First, hyperosmotic dehydration: water loss is greater than sodium loss, plasma colloid osmotic pressure increases, so it is called hyperosmotic dehydration. The main features are cell dehydration, thirst and decreased urine output of diseased animals.

Second, hypotonic dehydration: loss of sodium is more than water loss, plasma osmotic pressure is reduced, so it is called hypotonic dehydration, seen in diarrhea, vomiting and so on. The main features are edema of cells, high urine output, no symptoms of thirst and loose skin.

Third, isotonic dehydration: the proportion of water and sodium is lost, and the plasma osmotic pressure is basically unchanged, so it is called isotonic dehydration, also known as mixed dehydration. The main characteristics are both hyperosmotic dehydration and hypotonic dehydration.
