There are many kinds of terrestrial orchids in China, classified according to flowering season: flowering in February to March, those with one flower on one stem are called spring orchids; flowering in April to May, those with several flowers on one stem are called cymbidium; flowering before June to July, those with several flowers on one stem are called summer orchids; flowering in August to October, those with multiple flowers on one stem are called autumn orchids; flowering in the first month of the lunar calendar, those with multiple flowers on one stem are called annual orchids. There are 30 species in the same genus, most of which bloom annually in natural flowering. Among them, Jianlan is also called Xia Hui and Autumn Hui. It has a flowering period of 7~10 (12) months. It has a long cultivation history and many varieties. There are varieties such as "big leaf white" and "green stem four seasons". It blooms 2~3 times from July to October, so it is also called Four Seasons Orchid. Under natural conditions, plants have different florescence from flower bud differentiation to flowering, which is restricted by the nature of plant remains and external environmental factors. Using environmental factors to control flowering, chrysanthemum, peony, camellia and so on have been solved, but there is no scientific report about orchids.
