Straw mushroom is a kind of edible fungus cultivated in high temperature and rainy season. It takes only 14 days from sowing to harvest. It is easy to master the technology, low cost and quick effect. Straw mushroom is cultivated with a wide range of raw materials, and now the waste fiber of many crops can cultivate straw mushroom. Now we will briefly introduce the raw materials of straw mushroom available in daily life to the majority of mushroom farmers.

Volvariella volvacea cultivation

1. Straw. Straw cultivation of straw mushroom has a long history, and its formula and cultivation mode are also various, which can be cultivated with raw material or fermented material. Using it as raw material, it can produce bacteria quickly, the technology is easy to master, the disease is relatively less, and the yield of straw mushroom is high. This kind of raw material is used more frequently in many areas.

2. Cottonseed hull. Cottonseed hull is an ideal raw material because of its rich nutrition, loose texture, strong heat preservation and moisture retention and good ventilation. However, the price of cottonseed shell has risen in recent years, and the cost of using it to cultivate straw mushroom is high, so at present, there are not many mushroom farmers who use good cottonseed shell to cultivate straw mushroom.

3. Cotton waste. Waste cotton is the waste material of cotton mill and cotton oil factory, which is rich in cellulose, which is very suitable for the growth characteristics of straw mushroom mycelium, and the heat preservation and moisture retention performance of waste cotton is no less than that of cottonseed shell. using it as culture material, the yield of straw mushroom is higher than that of other natural fiber raw materials. therefore, the cultivation of straw mushroom with waste cotton has a large amount of promotion.

4. Corn straw (or corncob). This raw material is generally used as firewood burning or retting fertilizer in rural areas, and its utilization value is low. if it is used to cultivate straw mushroom, its benefit will be greatly improved. It should be noted that some nutrients should be added to the formula or mixed with other culture materials to increase the yield of volvariella volvacea.

5. Soybean straw. It is very good to cultivate other edible fungi with soybean straw, but it is also feasible to cultivate straw mushroom with it, and the cultivation mode can be cultivated by direct seeding with raw materials.

6. Wheat straw. Wheat is cultivated in a large area in northern China, and a large amount of wheat straw can be used to cultivate straw mushroom every year. It has been proved that the effect of cultivating straw mushroom with wheat straw is not worse than that of rice straw.

7. Waste bacterial bran. The waste of planting Flammulina velutipes, Flammulina velutipes, Flammulina velutipes and other edible mushrooms, in which nutrients have not been exhausted, and have full utilization value. Because the production cycle of volvariella volvacea is short, the nutrients needed by the mycelium of volvariella volvacea can be fully supplemented in these wastes. Therefore, in large areas where Pleurotus ostreatus and Flammulina velutipes are cultivated, the waste mushroom bran can be fully utilized to cultivate straw mushrooms.

8. Dry leaves. In recent years, fast-growing poplars are planted in many areas of our country, and a large number of leaves can be collected in autumn. in summer, straw mushrooms are cultivated with leaves in shady land, the benefit is also very high.

In short, the cultivation of volvariella volvacea should not be limited to certain raw materials, but should be adapted to local conditions, widely selected materials, and flexible use of various cultivation models in order to achieve high yield and high efficiency.
