Feeding and Management techniques of breeding Rams on Haoyi Slope
Good ram, good slope, good ewe, good litter. Breeding ram has a great influence on the improvement of sheep quality, appearance, production performance, reproduction and breeding. The good ram can not be raised well, and its breeding value is not high. The breeding ram must be carefully raised and managed, and it is required to maintain the middle and upper-class health, strong physique, abundant energy and exuberant semen quality all the year round, which can ensure and improve the utilization rate of breeding sheep.
Breeder ram
(1) the diet of rams:
The dietary requirements of breeding rams are high nutritional value, sufficient protein, vitamins and minerals, easy digestion and good palatability. There are alfalfa, clover, green oatgrass and so on. Succulent feed includes carrots, sugar beets, silage corn and so on. The concentrate is corn, sorghum, bean cake, wheat bran and so on. The main feed for breeding rams is a mixture of high-quality Gramineae and legumes, which should be fed as much as possible all the year round. Half of the green grass was supplemented in summer and an appropriate amount of silage was fed in winter. The diet is not nutritious enough and should be supplemented with mixed concentrate. Corn, barley, wheat bran, peas, soybeans or cake dregs should not be used in concentrate to supplement protein. The excellent breeding ram with heavy breeding task can supplement the animal feed.
(2) raising during the non-mating period:
In order to complete the task of mating, it is necessary to strengthen feeding and exercise during the non-mating period. If conditions permit, grazing should be carried out. In the non-breeding period, except for grazing, 0.5 kg of concentrate, 3 kg of hay, 0.5 kg of carrots, 5-10 grams of salt and 5 grams of bone meal are supplied daily in winter. It is mainly grazing in summer, adding concentrate properly, feeding 3-4 times a day and drinking water 1-2 times.
3. Breeding during the mating period:
Breeding period can be divided into two stages: seed preparation period (1-1.5 months before mating) and mating period. During the preparation period of mating, the amount of feed should be increased, which should be provided at 60% of the amount of mating feed, and gradually increase to the amount of concentrate during the mating period. The breeding ram during the breeding period is in a state of nervous excitement, often restless and restless to eat. This period of management should be particularly careful, get up early and sleep late, add less frequently, and feed many times. Feed quality should be good, if necessary, you can supplement some fish meal, eggs, goat milk, in order to supplement the nutrition consumed in large quantities during the breeding period. Mating period, such as insufficient protein quantity and poor quality, will affect ram performance, semen quality and conception rate. During the breeding period, daily feed: 1.2-1.4 kg of mixed concentrate, 2 kg of alfalfa hay or wild hay, 0.5-1.5 kg of carrots, 15-20 grams of salt, 5-10 grams of bone meal, 5 grams of blood meal or fish meal, 2-3 times forage and 3-4 times of drinking water. Graze or exercise for about 6 hours a day. The prepared concentrate should be evenly scattered in the trough, and the appetite of the breeding ram should be often observed in order to adjust in time and judge the health status of the breeding ram. Keep the ram away from the ewe, otherwise when the ewe barks, the ram will stand in the doorway, climb on the wall, look around and affect feeding. The breeding ram house should choose a ventilated, sunny and dry place. Each ram costs about 2 square meters. High temperature and humidity have adverse effects on semen quality, so grazing in cool highlands and sleeping in well-ventilated shady places should be done during this period.
When breeding rams, semen collection should be moderate. One ram can generally undertake the task of mating 30-50 ewes. Semen collection began 1-1.5 months before breeding, and semen quality was examined at the same time. At the beginning of a week, semen collection once, the second week began to increase to twice a week, to mating, can be collected 1-2 times a day, do not collect semen continuously. For a 1.5-year-old breeder ram, semen should not be collected more than 1-2 times a day. The 2.5-year-old breeder ram can collect semen 3-4 times a day. If there are many times of semen collection, there should be a rest, and the ram should not be overfed before semen collection.
