Sugarcane interplanting corn refers to the technology of planting corn between sugarcane rows, which can increase multiple cropping index, increase yield and income, and improve land and wet light utilization efficiency; returning corn leaf stalk to the field can also improve soil fertility and improve soil physical and chemical properties; sugarcane and corn symbiosis for a long time, early shade between rows, can reduce soil water evaporation and avoid weeds. When intercropping corn with sugarcane, we should pay attention to the following points:

Sugarcane intercropping corn

First, choose sugarcane fields according to local conditions. To a certain extent, the selection of sugarcane field determines the high and stable yield of sugarcane and corn, with large leaf area coefficient and high water demand. Therefore, it is appropriate to select fields with certain irrigation conditions, requiring fertile soil, high content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, high content of organic matter and moderate PH value.

Second, select improved varieties and sow early at the right time. Maize should choose hybrid varieties with early maturity, dwarfing, compact plant and leaf, lodging resistance, wide adaptability, high yield and high quality or local early-maturing waxy corn. Sugarcane should choose improved varieties such as NTSC series and 69thumb 421. More than 6000 buds per mu of sugarcane resulted in more than 5500 effective stems and a yield of 50.7 tons per mu. After sugarcane was planted and sowed in time, the daily average temperature of maize seedling emergence was more than 10 ℃ ~ 12 ℃. The temperature in Yunnan and other places rebounded steadily after February, and the sowing date should be completed in mid-March. Under suitable conditions, the earlier the corn is sown, the higher the yield is, and the earlier the maturity is, the smaller the effect on sugarcane is, and it is easy to get a good harvest of both sugarcane and corn. Practice has proved that full film mulching can increase soil temperature, conserve water and fertilizer, cover the whole field with plastic film 4 meters wide, tighten and compact, and promote the early growth and rapid development of sugarcane and corn. After sugarcane harvest, sugarcane intercropping should clean the sugarcane orchard, pine, apply sufficient base fertilizer, sow after plastic film mulching, and the late management should be the same as that of newly planted sugarcane.

Three, two rooms one, reasonable close planting. Reasonable planting density can promote the coordinated growth of individuals and groups, and take into account the mutual benefit and complementarity of primary and secondary crops. Sugarcane intercropping corn, row intercropping, although the maize yield is high, but affect the sugarcane yield, the overall benefit is not good. The intercropping of corn between two rows of sugarcane does not affect the growth of sugarcane and corn, fertilization and soil cultivation, but has little effect on sugarcane yield, and the overall benefit is higher than that of pure sugarcane. The row spacing of sugarcane is 90 cm, and the pond spacing is 50 cm to 60 cm, with 2 plants per pond, ensuring 1200 to 1500 plants per mu of corn.

Fourth, apply enough base fertilizer and topdressing in time. Before planting, re-apply base fertilizer, 15002000 kg of fine organic fertilizer per mu, 20 kg of urea, 60 kg of calcium and 20 kg of potassium sulfate as seed fertilizer. Available nitrogen fertilizer can be applied as seedling fertilizer at 4-5 leaves of maize. At the beginning of jointing, the stems and leaves grow rapidly and the amount of fertilizer required increases sharply. Combined with ploughing and weeding, 20 kg of urea, 40 kg of calcium and 10 kg of potassium carbonate are used as jointing fertilizer to enhance lodging and drought resistance.

Fifth, harvest in time, pull the stalk and turn it over. When the corn is ripe, pick the bud in time, pull out the stalk, combine with sugarcane topdressing, press the corn stalk in the field, and cultivate the soil greatly, increase the content of soil organic matter, improve soil fertility, keep the soil loose, increase the ability of water retention and drought resistance, and enhance the growth stamina of sugarcane. It plays a good role in increasing per unit yield.
