In recent years, Pleurotus ostreatus has a serious new disease, most of which occurred after the first harvest, but also a few occurred after the second or third harvest. At the beginning of the disease, a small number of white nutty spots grow on the surface of Pleurotus ostreatus culture material, like undifferentiated Pleurotus ostreatus fruit body primordium, gradually grow up, connect into a piece, later turn brown, the disease infectivity is strong, once it occurs, no longer normal fruiting, growers call it "white lump disease".

Pleurotus

According to information, this disease occurred in Japanese mushroom logs, named "big button mushroom", mycelium was white, dull, white whisker shape, observed with the naked eye, very similar to Pleurotus ostreatus mycelium, propagation, there is a bad smell, is a parasitic fungus, Pleurotus ostreatus mycelium as a nutrient source, it secretes an enzyme, destroy the mycelium cell wall, absorb mycelium nutrients, leading to Pleurotus ostreatus mycelium death. Once the disease occurs, there is no cure at present, but as long as attention is paid to prevention, it can effectively prevent the disease from occurring. Through practical experience, the following three prevention methods are summarized for your reference:

1. Change varieties and enhance disease resistance. Practice has proved that in the same area, repeated planting of the same variety, high incidence, it is best to replace the variety once a year, especially to breed varieties with strong disease resistance, for harvest, lay a solid foundation.

2. Correct discharge to prevent bacteria burning. In recent years, most of Pleurotus ostreatus mushrooms adopt wall-type three-dimensional soil covering, which is easy to manage, high yield, convenient water supply, but not easy to disperse temperature, easy to burn bacteria, because the soil itself also carries germs, easy to occur the disease. It is best not to cover the soil, single row discharge, two mushroom, layer with small bamboo or sorghum straw separation, bag to leave a certain gap, in order to facilitate cooling. Single discharge, as long as timely replenishment, strengthen management, can also obtain high yield. If covering soil for mushroom production, several points should be paid attention to: ① strict sterilization of soil, fumigation of soil with formaldehyde;② wet soil, not mud, because synthetic mud is easy to harden, poor permeability, can not meet the oxygen required for the growth of Pleurotus ostreatus, waste gas is not easy to discharge;③ water in the sink should be appropriate, too much water, too much water in the medium, resulting in hypha hypoxia, hypha thin, poor disease resistance, easy to occur diseases.

3. Comprehensive prevention and control to eliminate bacterial sources. (1) spray alkali water every 10 days during mushroom growth, which can not only effectively sterilize, but also remove acidic substances, so as to make mycelium grow strong and have strong disease resistance;(2) spray 1 ‰ carbendazim to the space and wall of mushroom house for sterilization before fruiting, and spray 1 ‰ carbendazim to the material surface, space and wall again every time a crop of mushrooms is harvested;(3) keep the mushroom house clean during mushroom growth, and clean mushroom feet in time to eliminate hidden dangers;(4) remove the waste after mushroom production in time and keep away from mushroom house; 5. Disinfection and sterilization of mushroom house in time can be carried out by alkali, lime water spraying, sulfur ignition fumigation, etc. If conditions permit, fire sterilization can also be used to create excellent conditions for the next cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus. As long as the measures are reasonable, the disease can be completely avoided.
