Porcine transmissible gastroenteritis caused by virus mostly occurs in winter and spring. Pigs of all ages can be infected, and the mortality rate of piglets within 10 days of age is high, while adult pigs rarely die. Transmissible gastroenteritis not only affects the normal growth of pigs, but also causes feed waste, which is the enemy of raising pigs.

Symptoms: sick pigs vomiting, severe diarrhea, loss of water, rapid infection, spread to the whole population within a few days. Piglet symptoms: sudden vomiting followed by acute watery diarrhea with yellow, green or white diarrhea. Adult pigs had elevated body temperature, extreme thirst, vomiting, not eating for several days, severe diarrhea (diarrhea was sprayed), gray and brown diarrhea, and rapid weight loss. If there are no complications, the diseased pigs can recover on their own in about 10 days.

Second, prevention: pigs are not introduced from the epidemic area, and the imported pigs are quarantined and observed. Do a good job in pig feeding and management: pig houses are often disinfected, keep clean, keep cold and warm, irrelevant personnel are not allowed to enter pig houses, feed nutritious feed, provide clean drinking water, etc., and do a good job in these work can reduce infectious gastroenteritis in pigs.

Third, treatment: there is no specific drug for the treatment of the disease, the use of antibiotics or sulfonamides can only prevent secondary infection and shorten the course of disease in diseased pigs. For seriously ill pigs, atropine sulfate can be injected to control diarrhea; for diseased pigs with excessive water loss, glucose and normal saline can be injected intravenously.

Intramuscular injection of gentamicin twice a day, 3 days a course of treatment, large, medium and small pigs were injected 8 ml, 6 ml, 4 ml, can shorten the course of the disease.

The effect of feeding diseased pigs with fresh straw ash mixed in feed is also very good. Generally, diseased pigs can recover within 3 days and greatly shorten the course of disease. Methods: the sick pigs were starved for one day (only clean drinking water was provided), and then the fresh straw ash was mixed with the feed for the pigs to feed. The weight of each pig was 40ml 50g for big pig, 30m for middle pig and 20ml for piglet.

Adding 1% vinegar to the drinking water of pigs to allow pigs to drink freely can shorten the course of sick pigs and have a preventive effect on healthy pigs.
