Drought-tolerant varieties such as Taigu 1, Xincheng 1 and Zhongyu 6 were selected for cultivation in the west of dry land. The planting land is generally applied base fertilizer in autumn, deep ploughing fine rake, ditching according to row spacing in spring, and then applying mixed fertilizer such as organic fertilizer, oil residue and calcium superphosphate, ploughing the soil, making fertilization ditch into high ridges and covering plastic film. From the middle of April to the first and middle of May, the soil water content is high or sowing after rain, in order to save the seedlings, dry weather, dig holes and sow seeds with water. You can also raise seedlings first, dig holes to plant seedlings, bury half of the soil first, and then cover the soil after watering. After setting or slowing down the seedlings, punch holes at the 10cm from the roots, apply 2% urea solution, apply 0.25kg to each plant, infiltrate and seal the soil to promote the growth of the seedlings. After seating the melon, dig a hole outside the root 20~25cm to apply topdressing, and spray 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate on the leaves during the melon expansion period. The second female flower is left to bear fruit in the area where it rains early, and the third female flower is left in the late rainy season to ensure that the melon and fruit expand in the rainy season, which can get enough water to promote the watermelon to grow up and have a correct shape. Single vine pruning, melon period stem trailing growth, can sprain the top or light pressure vine. The growth potential of watermelon in dry land is generally weak, and lateral branches can be left properly after setting melon to expand the leaf area.
