The Beginning of Winter goose refers to the goslings hatched during the period from the Beginning of Winter to the Winter Solstice. After growing to 40 days old, the goslings turn to the middle stage, when fattening for 20-30 days, the average weight can reach 5-7 kilograms, just before and after the Spring Festival, not only the market is popular, but also the price is good.

First, Gosling selection. To choose and feed the fast-growing meat geese, select the goslings with thick head and big feet, bright fluff, strong struggle, good at foraging, strong disease resistance and fast growth. Only in this way can the best breeding benefit be achieved and the body weight of more than 6.5-7 kg at the age of 70-80 days can be ensured.

Second, careful management. After the Beginning of Winter, the temperature gradually decreased, to do a good job of cold protection and heat preservation is the key to ensure the success of breeding. You can use self-warming to raise the young, that is, when the goslings rest, they are caught in a basket covered with soft straw and covered with old cotton or straw mats to keep the temperature in the basket not lower than 20 ℃. When eating and drinking water, uncover the cover and put the goslings in the nursery to exercise their ability to keep out the cold. With the increase of the age of goslings, the brooding temperature can be gradually reduced, and it is appropriate for goslings to be lively, spread evenly, have a quiet rest and have a good appetite. If the Gosling shrinks its head and neck, crowds into piles and makes a scream, it means that the temperature is too low and needs to be heated up quickly. In the process of heating, windows must be opened for ventilation to keep the air fresh.

Third, short-term fattening. Goslings can be fattened after 40 days of age, and there are two common fattening methods: 1. Fattening. Use bamboo slices or sorghum stalks to form a small fence, raising 5-6 geese in each column. The size of the column is no more than twice that of a goose and is 60 centimeters high. The trough and drinking fountain are placed outside the fence, and the goose can stick its head out to eat and drink. Feed corn, bran, bean cake, rice and so on 3 times during the day and 1 time at night. 2. Forced fattening. With jade rice, potato, wheat bran, broken rice, fine bran and bean cake and other feed, mixed with water, made of about 5 cm long, about 1-1.5 cm thick filling strips, dried, manually filled into the goose esophagus, forced to swallow. At the beginning, the goose was fed 3-4 times a day, and then increased to 5 times a day, 5-6 pieces each time. After about 30 days of fattening, the goose could gain more than twice its weight. The diet of fattening geese is mainly composed of high protein and high energy, 60% of corn, soybean cake, fish meal and other concentrate in the pre-fattening period, 40% of green feed such as bran and radish, 80% of late concentrate and 20% of green feed, free drinking water.

When the hand touches the goose body to feel the subcutaneous fat is strong, elastic, the chest muscle is full, the tail vertebra fat is plump, and the wing feather root is transparent, it shows that the fattening is good, and it can be listed on the market.
