Sweet-scented osmanthus is fragrant and has high appreciation value. It is evergreen all the year round, and when it is in full bloom, the yellow flowers are like golden millet, overflowing with the wind, fragrant and refreshing. Therefore, flower friends take advantage of July, skillfully use some "tricks", August sweet-scented osmanthus will be able to blossom fragrant trees.

Sweet-scented osmanthus likes warmth, light and cold resistance. It is born in the microclimate environment with fresh air, trees and flowers and loose, fertile and well-drained acid sandy soil. Avoid alkaline and clay soil, avoid soot and dust, avoid stagnant water.

In the south of the Yangtze River, the law of its growth and development is as follows: new seedlings sprout from February to March in early spring, new branches become semi-lignified in June, flower buds differentiate in August, flowers are more flowering in the same year, flowers fade in October, and enter the dormant period. Except four seasons cassia, it began to blossom after 5 years of planting. The trees with the age of 50-100 years old bloom the most.

Therefore, to protect sweet-scented osmanthus, flower friends need to learn the following tricks:

1. Planting

If sweet-scented osmanthus is planted on the ground, flower lovers should choose sunny ones with groups of trees next to them, courtyards with better drainage or rural houses in front and back. When the planting time is from March to April or after the flowers fade in autumn, it should be closed with mud and applied with rotten fertilizer as base fertilizer. When planting, there should be a certain space around the tree, and the branches and leaves should not be overlapped and squeezed to facilitate ventilation and light transmission, otherwise it will affect the growth and flowering.

For potted plants, flower friends can use vegetable garden soil, or use vegetable garden soil, river sand, and manure to make pot soil after mixing. Pour enough water into the basin and place it in an outdoor semi-shady place. Water can be sprayed on the leaves to increase the humidity of the environment, which is good for the survival of the basin. After the basin has survived, it can be placed in full-day sunshine or semi-shade.

2. Fertilizer and water

Adequate base fertilizer should be applied in winter. Planted in the root base around the trench, filled with sufficient organic fertilizer, such as rotten cake fertilizer plus animal or bone powder, superphosphate and so on.

Potted in November to December after winter, once a week, use the organic liquid fertilizer commonly used in flowers, dilute the root 500 times, or peel off the topsoil, add a small amount of bean cake crumbs or bone powder, and then cover the soil. When growing branches and leaves, topdressing with general liquid fertilizer for flowers and plants for 1 and 2 times.

In July in midsummer, thin fertilizer based on phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be applied 1-2 times to promote flower bud differentiation and bud pregnancy. At this time, watering should also be properly controlled to facilitate flower bud differentiation. In the application of organic fertilizer, must be diluted to 500-800 times, in the whole growing period, we should pay attention to loosen the soil and weed, usually the soil can be kept generally moist, to prevent too wet and stagnant water, so as to avoid rotting roots, buds and flowers.

3. Pruning

Most of the buds of sweet-scented osmanthus grow on the new branches of the year, so we should pay attention to cutting off withered, diseased and overdense branches. After blooming in autumn, the overgrown branches should be cut short to facilitate the growth of lateral branches, multi-pregnant buds and keep the plant shape beautiful.

4. Pest control

The main pests of sweet-scented osmanthus are "leaf-cutting insects", also known as "night larvae", which can be prevented by 1000 times dilution after discovery.
