Partridge is an omnivorous bird, which mainly feeds on grass and animal food in the wild. Animal food, especially insects, is very important for partridges before the age of 2 weeks.

Plant feed plant feed such as corn, wheat, barley, sorghum, rice, millet, wheat bran, rice bran, sorghum bran, soybean cake, peanut cake, cottonseed cake, rapeseed cake, sunflower cake and so on. Soybean cake and peanut cake are not suitable for raw feeding; excessive eating of rapeseed cake can cause partridge erucic acid and glucosinolates poisoning, should be fed by heating or other methods after detoxification, the dosage should not exceed 3% 5%; cottonseed cake contains free gossypol toxin, attention should be paid to detoxification and feeding amount; sunflower cake is an ideal plant protein feed.

Animal feed animal feed, such as fish meal, silkworm pupa meal, meat and bone meal, feather meal, blood meal, earthworm and so on, contains more protein and amino acids, which has a good effect on partridge egg laying and breeding. Blood powder lysine is very rich and should not be fed more, especially during the breeding season of partridges. Earthworms, fly maggots and yellow powder insects are high-quality protein feed for partridges and can replace fishmeal.

Mineral feed among minerals (that is, inorganic salts), partridges need the most calcium and phosphorus. The common mineral feeds are bone powder, stone powder, eggshell powder, shell powder, gravel and so on, which account for 1% of the diet of young partridges and 2% and 5% of adult partridges.

Vitamin feed mainly includes green feed, hay powder and leaf powder, in which green feed comes from a wide range of sources and is rich in carotene and trace elements, which plays a good role in partridge growth, egg laying and reproduction.

Vitamin additives: vitamins play an important role in the metabolism of partridges. Vitamins must be added to the partridge diet. At present, multi-vitamins are widely used in poultry. Trace element additives: commonly used trace element additives are copper sulfate, cobalt sulfate, manganese sulfate, zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, copper carbonate, cobalt carbonate, manganese carbonate, zinc carbonate, ferrous carbonate, copper oxide, cobalt oxide, manganese oxide, zinc oxide, ferrous oxide, potassium iodide and calcium iodate, etc. The amount of trace element additives in the diet is very small, about 1-9 grams per 1000 kg of feed. Drug additives: according to the needs of partridge disease prevention, antibiotics, insect repellents and other drug additives can be added to the diet.
