First, grasp and put it right.

When the child pigeon is sexually mature for about 5 months and appears courtship behavior, the child pigeon begins to pair at this time. Pay attention to the following problems when pairing:

① prevents early mating. Sexual maturity does not mean physical maturity. In order to prevent early mating, young pigeons aged 3 months to 4 months should be raised separately. Generally, by the age of 6 months, the body has been fully developed and can mate and reproduce normally.

It is better to introduce young pigeons from 3 months to 4 months in the new pigeon farm in ②, with equal number of males and females. After reaching the age of 6 months, they can be matched purposefully. If the number of males and females is not equal or there is a difference in age, so that some pigeons can not be matched in pairs, it will cause losses in production.

③ caged meat pigeons carry out artificial pairing, and artificially put the selected male and female pigeons in a cage so that they are close to each other. The method of pairing breeding is to put a pair of breeding pigeons in a cage, first separated by barbed wire in the middle of the cage, and look at each other through the window to get to know each other. After a few days, when the male and female pigeons are close, open the window and match it, otherwise it will lead to a fight.

Second, do a good job of spawning, hatching and brooding

Under normal circumstances, two eggs are laid in each litter. Generally, the first egg is laid at noon or evening on the first day, the production is stopped on the second day, and the second egg is laid after noon on the third day, with a time difference of 48 hours. Pigeon eggs are white, oval in shape, weigh about 15 ~ 20 grams, and sometimes lay only one egg. Hatching usually begins after laying the second egg, and the male and female take turns to hold the eggs, and the incubation period is about 18 days. After 4 ~ 5 days, the egg can be illuminated for the first time, and the egg can be illuminated for the first time. If there are reddish-brown blood vessels in the egg, the distribution is uniform, the shape is spider web, and the shape is stable, it is the fertilized egg; on the 10th day, the egg is illuminated once again with light, if it is found that one side of the egg is black, and the other side forms a brighter blank due to the enlargement of the air chamber, it is a normally developed egg. The young pigeons pecked out of the shell in about 18 days. Generally speaking, the eggs laid first break their shells first, with a time difference of 12 hours. Two to three days before the young pigeon came out of the shell, the parent pigeon prepared for brooding, and the food intake increased. After the young pigeon came out of the shell, pigeon milk was secreted in the crop of the parent pigeon, and the parent pigeon and the young pigeon were fed mouth to mouth. In the first week, the pigeons were fed with whole pulp, and then the pigeons were fed with the feed which had been soaked and softened into the crop. The young pigeon grows very fast, its body weight is 18g ~ 20g when it comes out of its shell, and its weight can be doubled after 2 ~ 3 days. Open your eyes for about 7 days, grow uneven feathers all over the body in about 10 days, and be covered with feathers in about 20 days. Began to peck their own food, 23 days to 25 days squab can grow to more than 550 grams, can be sold as a commodity.

3. Do a good job in preventing enemy damage

Cats, mice and snakes do great harm to meat pigeons and are great enemies of meat pigeons. Snakes and mice climb into the pigeon house and like to eat pigeon eggs and squab. Cats like to get into the pigeon house to eat squab, child pigeon, bite parent pigeon and breed male pigeon. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen pigeon houses and cages and strictly prevent cats, rats and snakes from getting in; check the changes in the number of eggs, squab and young pigeons every day, find problems and solve them in time; do a good job in rodent control.
