Scorpion, also known as "scorpion,""whole insect," is both a kind of precious Chinese herbal medicine, but also the table of first-class delicacies. Its market demand is increasing day by day, raise scorpion to raise poison especially, economic benefit is higher. The key farming techniques are described below.

( 1) Feed

Scorpions are carnivores and feed from four sources. (a) catching bugs. Rapeseed insects, beans, butterflies, snails, locusts, grasshoppers, etc. are the best feed for scorpions, but also can catch other small animals. (b) black light traps. Night with black light trap moths, mosquitoes, mole crickets, leafhoppers and other insects for scorpions to eat. (c) artificial breeding. Rice bran and other raw materials can be used to cultivate Tenebrio molitor as part of the feed source. (d) formulated feed. Insect shortage in early spring, and winter before the scorpion busy eating period, can provide fresh beef and mutton, rabbit meat, rat meat, etc., they are scorpion delicacies, feed when the meat should be chopped. Feed scorpions-must be fresh, nontoxic, and free of corruption.

( 2) Facilities

Scorpion rearing methods-generally have the following three kinds. (a) Pot cultivation or tank cultivation, this method is easy to operate and manage, suitable for beginners, as long as the use of a smooth inner surface of the pot or tank, in its bottom laid with 3 cm of old soil or saline-alkali soil, the soil layer placed-some old wood with pores made of hidden nests, in the pot or tank covered with holes can be. (b) Membrane walled rearing ponds, with brick walls, 40 cm high and unlimited area. The inner wall of the wall shall be covered with plastic film, and the joints of the film shall be adhered firmly to prevent scorpions from escaping. The film shall be wiped frequently to keep it clean and smooth. Stones, tiles and gravel shall be piled up in the pool, and the soil layer shall be covered on it to create a cave suitable for scorpions to inhabit. Weeds and trees can be planted in the pool. Scorpions have strong climbing and drilling ability. Therefore, when building the pool, how to prevent scorpions from escaping shall be fully considered. (c) indoor farming. The interior can be divided into several small areas, and each area is dug into a winter storage area with a depth of 50 cm (about 1 / 3 of the whole area). Put broken stones and rubble inside, design a scorpion nest area with a depth of 15 cm above, insert glass vertically around the whole scorpion nest area, 5 cm underground and 15 cm on the ground to form an escape wall.

( 3) Feeding

Separate breeding is an important link in artificial scorpion breeding. This can avoid scorpion size, strength and mutual cannibalism, but also according to the characteristics of scorpions of different ages to take different management methods. Scorpions should pay attention to escape, because at this time scorpions escape the strongest ability. Scorpion growth is in the fastest growing stage of life, should provide adequate feed. Adult scorpions should pay attention to the proportion of male and female, generally 1 male and 3 female is appropriate. After childbirth, they should be separated in time to avoid becoming scorpions.

When the outside temperature is lower than 10 degrees Celsius, scorpions enter hibernation, and the temperature in the hibernation area should not be lower than 0 degrees Celsius. Therefore, when designing scorpion breeding facilities, a winter storage area with a depth of 50 cm should be dug. If the temperature is found to be low, cover the kiln mouth or vat mouth with straw curtain to prevent scorpion freezing. The humidity in the hibernation area should be kept at about 15%. Scorpions into hibernation after all, with a wooden cover sealed tightly, to prevent rats from entering, if not properly protected, -after winter there are rats eat all the possibility.

Ants are the main natural enemies of scorpions. In the breeding ground, pig bones should be used to lure ants and destroy them. Rodents, birds, lizards, frogs and toads should also be prevented from entering.

( 4) Reproduction

In nature, male scorpions rely on sperm clips to transmit sperm to female scorpions, which can continue to give birth for 3 - 5 years after receiving sperm. Scorpion eggs are born, fertilized eggs develop into young scorpions in the mother. From July to August, the female scorpions about to give birth look for a suitable place, spread the ladder-like organ to the left and right, and successively produce young scorpions from the reproductive pores. The appendages of the young scorpions are curved inward, and the tail is bent to the lower part of the trunk, surrounded by white mucus, rice-like. After a few minutes, the tail and appendages of the young scorpions are separated from the mucus.
