I. breeding

In general, wild boars can give birth to 2-2.5 babies per year, with 8-16 per litter. The suitable mating time is 6-7 months old and 60-70 kg body weight. Because the IQ and sensitivity of wild boar are higher than those of ordinary domestic pigs, the natural mating method can only be used instead of climbing platform, false vagina or manual sperm collection. Sows can be mated when they are in estrus and allow boars to climb. Generally speaking, mating is effective within 12 to 24 hours after estrus and climbing is allowed. The sow can safely accept climbing, or the vulva changes from bright red to dark purple, from swelling to slight shrinkage, or when the breeders press the hindquarters of the pig with their hands and stand still. After the first mating, it was repeated at an interval of 6-8 hours to improve the conception rate. Before mating, the sundries in the wild pig pen should be removed to prevent injury to the pig leg or accidental accidents. At the same time, scrub the vulva of the wild boar with 3% potassium permanganate solution, and then put it into the breeding boar for breeding (the breeding process is about 30 minutes). Let them drink water every 1 hour after mating. If it is confirmed that the wild boar has been bred, the whole body should be smeared with amitraz solution for 2 or 3 times to kill the parasite on the body surface to prevent excessive itching of the wild boar and cause pregnancy miscarriage.

II. Delivery

1. Preparation before delivery

Wild boars were injected with Escherichia coli vaccine or long-acting antibiotics about 20 days before delivery. At the same time, thoroughly clean and rinse the shed and disinfect it with sue or potassium permanganate solution. After the cement floor is dry, thousands of pads of grass are laid, drinking water tanks and electric lights are installed, clear water is added to the trough, and items such as birth boxes (warm boxes in winter and spring), iodine tincture, de-esterified cotton balls, thread binding and sterilized scissors are prepared, and there are special personnel on duty to guard against accidents when sows suddenly give birth to piglets.

2. Matters needing attention in delivery

The gestation period of wild boar is generally about 114 days, starting to pick up grass before delivery, frequent urination, irregular defecation, redness and swelling of the vulva, accelerated respiratory rate, unwillingness to stand, etc., indicating that the baby will be born soon. Most sows lay on their side on the mat grass and give birth to the piglets smoothly. Domestic pigs give birth to the head first, while wild boars give birth to the hind legs and buttocks first. As soon as the wild boar has given birth, it will stand up and begin to milk. If you give birth to too many babies and not enough nipples, you can feed them in batches or feed other wild boars that are close to giving birth and have given birth to a small number of wild boars. However, it is rare for wild boars to lack milk after giving birth.

Every time a female wild boar gives birth, the midwife picks up and wipes the blood stains and sticky matter in the pig's mouth with a towel soaked in 3% potassium permanganate solution. Cut the umbilical cord after leaving 4cm thread, apply iodine tincture at the cut, cut off two canine teeth on each side of the mouth, and then put the piglets into the already prepared litter box. After giving birth, norfloxacin was adjusted into paste and put into the root of the tongue of piglets to swallow to prevent intestinal diseases such as hemolytic yellow and white dysentery and edematous Escherichia coli. Piglets should be vaccinated after 20 days of age, and then injected intramuscularly with "triple vaccine" at 60 days of age.

When the female wild boar is all excreted from the placenta, the original mat grass and blood stains should be cleaned, the ground should be disinfected and replaced with short, clean straw and other cushions in time, and 3% potassium permanganate solution should be used to wipe the nipple and both sides of the sow. Currently, 320-4 million units of penicillin is injected into the neck of the wild boar, twice a day for two days (each time at an interval of 8: 12 hours) to prevent high fever and uterine inflammation of the wild boar. Then put the piglets into the female wild pig pen and let them suck milk freely and feed them every 4 hours for 4 consecutive days to prevent the piglets from being crushed to death by the female wild boar. After that, we should strengthen the observation of the defecation color and mental status of piglets and sows, so as to detect diseases early and treat them early, so as to ensure the healthy growth and development of piglets and sows and improve the efficiency of breeding.
