The summer and autumn season is the fastest growing period of the year. When farmers feed the soft-shelled turtle, if they can pay attention to the following points, it can effectively improve the feed utilization rate, reduce feed waste and promote the rapid growth and development of the soft-shelled turtle.

The main results are as follows: 1. The feed particle size should be appropriate. Soft-shelled turtle first bite the food and then dive into the water to swallow, if the feed particles are too large, it is not convenient to ingest, so the size of the pellet feed should be appropriate. When the body weight of the soft-shelled turtle is less than 10 grams, the feed diameter is less than 0.5 cm and the length is less than 1 cm; when the body weight of the soft-shelled turtle is 10 grams, the feed diameter is less than 0.7 cm and the length is less than 1.2 cm; when the body weight of the soft-shelled turtle is 50 grams, the straight diameter of the feed is less than 0.8 cm and the length is less than 1.4 cm; the body weight of the soft-shelled turtle is more than 150 grams, and the feed diameter is less than 1 cm and the length is about 1.5 cm. If the palatable feed is fed according to different specifications, the feed utilization rate can reach more than 90%.

2. Add adhesive. Adding adhesives to the feed, such as gluten flour, algin, konjac powder, etc., can enhance the elasticity and adhesion of the feed, is not easy to spread in the presence of water, and can effectively improve the feed utilization rate.

3. Determine the feeding amount according to seasons and specifications. The protein content of juvenile turtle feed is 50%, and that of juvenile and adult soft-shelled turtle is about 45%. Feeding throughout the year should grasp the principle of light at both ends and heavy in the middle, that is, less feeding in spring and late autumn and more in the middle, accounting for 70% and 80% of the annual feeding from summer to early autumn. In general, the amount of artificial compound feed for juvenile soft-shelled turtle is 5%-8% of its body weight, and that of adult turtle is 3%-5% of its body weight. If fresh animal feed is given, the feeding amount should account for 10%-15% of the body weight of the soft-shelled turtle, and it is appropriate to finish it within 1 hour after feeding.

4. Keep the feeding environment quiet. After feeding, a large number of soft-shelled turtles will feed on the table, and if disturbed at this time, the soft-shelled turtle will immediately dive into the water, resulting in a large number of feed scattered in the pool and wasted. Therefore, in order to ensure that the soft-shelled turtle can eat well and reduce feed waste, the environment around the turtle pond must be kept quiet after feeding.

5. Set up a simple feeding frame. In order to prevent the soft-shelled turtle from crawling back and forth and causing the feed to fall into the water, a simple feeding frame can be used, which can be made of plastic or wood, and the bottom of the frame can be nailed with bamboo or wood nails. the nail spacing should be that the soft-shelled turtle neck can reach in but the body can not enter. The feed is put into the feeding frame so that the soft-shelled turtle can only stick its head into the feeding.
