Colored long-haired rabbit is a rare economic animal introduced from the United States in China. After more than ten years of development, it has entered the stage of scale development. Its rabbit velvet is brown, yellow, beige, black, cyan and silver gray and other colors. The adult rabbit weighs 3-4 kg, a female rabbit litter gives birth to 6-9 pups, and the annual litter size is about 30. The young rabbits can produce wool at the age of 6 months, and the annual wool yield of each rabbit is more than 0.6 kg. The economic benefit is 3 times higher than that of ordinary long-haired rabbits. The feeding and management techniques are as follows:

(1) build a rabbit house. The rabbit house should be built in a place with high and dry terrain, good drainage, south facing sun, and secluded ventilation. The rabbit cage should be semi-open, 70 cm wide, 80 cm deep and 50 cm high. The cage should be made of bamboo, and the material at the bottom of the cage should be smooth and soft.

(2) choose varieties. The choice of breeding rabbits is very important, and purebred breeds must be introduced to the regular breeding farm. Breeding rabbits require good development, strong physique, fine villi, consistent color, high wool yield, large body, stout neck, wide chest and back, long waist, wide arms, eyes and large ear shells. In addition, the selection of male rabbits must have normal testes and exuberant mating ability, and the selection of female rabbits requires wide rear gear, meek sex, more litter and developed breasts. More than 8 nipples are less than 8 and arranged evenly, thick and soft, and have more milk production. Breeding rabbits must not be too fat and too thin, and take the upper-middle fat as the degree.

(3) feeding in stages.

1. For pregnant female rabbits, adequate compound feed should be provided to ensure the nutrition needs of the fetus. In the diet formula, we should not only provide adequate nutrients such as protein, minerals and vitamins, but also pay special attention to the content of crude fiber should not be less than 15% of the diet. The amount of compound feed should be reduced and more green feed should be fed 3 days before delivery. After the birth box is disinfected, the female rabbit is put into the cage, the box is covered with clean and soft grass matting and the light in the cage is reduced. Female rabbits often give birth at night and in the early hours of the morning, and it takes about 30-45 days from delivery to weaning. During this period, adequate nutrition should be provided to ensure milk secretion, and diseases such as indigestion and mastitis caused by overeating should be avoided.

2. for young rabbits born within 20 days, they basically rely on breast milk to maintain their life, and their adaptability is very weak, so they must be carefully nursed to ensure that they have enough milk every day. Suckling rabbits should be carried by nanny rabbits or artificially breast-fed in time. When the baby rabbit opens its eyes, it is necessary to strengthen the heat preservation and cleaning measures in the delivery box to prevent rodent and animal damage. After opening the eyes, the young rabbits should be supplied with some digestible, nutritious feed and appropriate amount of green feed, and gradually increase the feeding amount.

3. For the young rabbits with strong digestibility and fast growth, the young rabbits should be mainly supplied with green and coarse feed, supplemented by concentrate, and the use value should be affected because the rabbits are too fat or too thin. When the young rabbits reach a certain body weight, they can choose the best ones to be used for breeding, and the rest can be used for breeding and wool production.
