In recent years, with the continuous planting of tomato, pathogens continue to accumulate in the soil, resulting in tomato wilting and dead plants continue to occur.

It is understood that the main diseases causing tomato death are Fusarium wilt, Phytophthora root rot, bacterial wilt and so on. For vegetable farmers, it is easy to distinguish between Fusarium wilt and Phytophthora root rot (the former generally does not turn brown on the surface of tomato roots, while the latter shows brown or dark brown rot). The reason is that the symptoms of tomato Fusarium wilt and bacterial wilt are very similar, and the two diseases are harmful vascular bundles.

According to vegetable pathology, tomato wilt is caused by Fusarium oxysporum (Fusarium oxysporum), while bacterial wilt is caused by bacteria. Therefore, the diagnosis can be made according to the differences of pathogens in the identification.

Method 1: cut off the susceptible tomato root or stem, put it in a cup or bowl filled with clear water, stir it a few times, and if you see a smoky bacterial pus (pathologically called "spraying bacteria" phenomenon), it can be preliminarily determined as bacterial wilt caused by bacteria. If not, it is fungal Fusarium wilt.

Method 2: put the diseased tomato plant into a plastic bag, spray proper amount of water, seal and observe. After two or three days, if there is a white or pink mildew layer at the disease site, it can be judged to be tomato Fusarium wilt, but bacterial wilt has no such symptoms.
