Raising chickens in the orchard and pecking at fruit tree pests in the orchard can not only reduce the cost of pest control, but also save feed and improve the quality and flavor of eggs and chicken meat. Chicken manure is a kind of high quality organic fertilizer (1 ton of chicken manure is equivalent to 55 kilograms of ammonium sulfate, 88 kilograms of calcium superphosphate, 12 kilograms of potassium sulfate), which can be excreted directly in the orchard, which can improve the orchard soil, fertilize the soil and increase the yield of fruit trees. Therefore, raising chickens in the orchard can be said to kill many birds with one stone. The main technical points are as follows:

1. Garden plot and variety selection. It is best to choose to raise chickens in mountain orchards far away from livestock and poultry trading farms, slaughterhouses, processing plants and chemical plants and garbage disposal plants, with shade requirements of more than 70%, to prevent chickens from heatstroke caused by direct sunlight in summer. Protective nets should be set up around the orchard to prevent chickens from escaping and natural enemies from invading. Chickens should choose high-quality local native chicken breeds that are resistant to rough feeding, wide range of activities, strong foraging ability and good disease resistance.

two。 Build a shed. According to the area of the orchard and the number of chickens, some simple sheds should be set up appropriately to provide a place for chickens to perch, lay eggs, shelter from rain and summer, and avoid being disturbed by rain, sun and accidents. Most of the sheds are made of bamboo and wood, and the sheds are built in high and dry places with shelter from the wind to the sun, the size varies from place to place, the roof can be made of glass fiber reinforced plastic tiles or oil blankets with straw, the middle of the shed is high, both sides are low, and drainage ditches are dug around.

3. Stocking density. According to the area of the orchard, it is appropriate to keep 150 million 250 animals per mu. Excessive density will increase the amount of concentrate feed due to the lack of feed such as insects and grass, which will affect the flavor of chicken and eggs; too low density will lead to a waste of resources and low breeding efficiency.

4. Reasonable rotational grazing. The orchard is separated by a screen and divided into several plots, and then transferred to another for grazing when there is not enough grass and insects in one community. In this way, it is not only conducive to management, but also prevent rats, weasels and other damage to chickens and bring infectious bacteria, but also conducive to the establishment of the food chain.

5. Epidemic prevention and control. Raising chickens in orchards has a wide range of activities, and it is difficult to prevent and control diseases. In addition to routine immunization, breeders are required to enhance their sense of responsibility, observe and record the feeding, drinking, mental, fecal, sleeping and other conditions of chickens every day. Diseased chickens are found, isolation and treatment are carried out immediately, and threatened chickens are given preventive medication. During the period of grazing, a certain amount of disinfectant is regularly put into the drinking water of chickens to control the content of harmful bacteria in drinking water and prevent the spread of disease. Chicken sheds and gardens should be kept clean and sanitary, and disinfected regularly with lime milk.

In addition, we should pay attention to prevent the infringement of rats, weasels and other animals, and pay attention to snakes and other animals running into the egg nest when laying eggs.
