At present, in raising cattle in rural areas, there are still a considerable number of farmers who have many misunderstandings in raising and management. if these misunderstandings are not paid attention to, it is bound to affect the further improvement of cattle raising efficiency. For this reason, the author now briefly describes some of the main misunderstandings in raising cattle in rural areas as follows.

1. Single breed of male parent

At present, most rural cattle farmers choose their male parents from the traditional coat color and habits of raising cattle, so they generally like to raise Charolais cattle, but do not want to be accepted by farmers for other breeds. However, due to the use of Charlotte for progressive hybridization for many years, the heterosis of Charlotte has been weakened because of its single variety. As a result, the weight gain is slow, the feed reward is low, and the income of raising cattle is low. In order to improve the efficiency of raising cattle, it is necessary to change the practice of progressive hybridization of single male parent breeds implemented for many years, and actively introduce excellent cattle breeds such as Limuzan and Simmental to cross.

2. Use hybrid bulls to breed

At present, there are still many farmers in rural areas who use hybrid bulls for mating due to the lack of scientific knowledge of raising cattle. However, a small number of hybrid bull farmers are driven by economic interests and carry out external breeding for the purpose of profit, which not only harms the interests of cattle farmers, but also interferes with the popularization and application of the new technology of frozen semen mating.

The calves were not fed enough after birth, especially during the first and second winter and spring house feeding, which seriously hindered the growth and development of the improved cattle, prolonged the fencing period and made the economic benefit low. Therefore, in order to improve the efficiency of raising cattle, we must start with the cultivation of calves, especially the supplementary feeding of calves in the first and second winter and spring, so that they can be fattened at the age of 18 months and 24 months with a body weight of more than 300 kilograms. at the same time, it can also be fattened for a short time with a body weight of more than 500 kg.

Roughage is fed to cattle without processing.

During the period of cattle raising and feeding, many farmers use the whole corn straw to feed the cattle, so that the utilization rate of the straw is only about 30%, and most fattening households can only cut the straw short. on the other hand, the popularity and quantity of new straw treatment technologies such as silage, ammoniation and microbial fermentation are small. A large number of scientific experiments have proved that after scientific processing, straw can not only improve the utilization rate, palatability and nutritional composition of straw, but also promote the effect of weight gain and fattening and accelerate the rate of fattening. Therefore, in order to improve the benefit of raising cattle, all kinds of roughage fed to cattle must be processed scientifically, and new straw processing technologies such as straw silage, ammoniation and microsilage must be popularized and applied actively.

IV. Extensive management

At present, most of the barns where farmers raise cattle are relatively simple and crude, and the temperature of many fattening barns is on the low side, the daily excretion of cattle is not cleaned in time, and most of them are dark and humid. Cattle are not brushed all the year round, and they are tied in the shed for no exercise and do not bask in the sun. For this reason, in order to make the cattle gain faster, the rate of cattle production is high, and the benefit is good, farmers must pay attention to the construction of the cowshed, so that the barn can be warm in winter and cool in summer, and the temperature in the barn should be kept above 5 ℃ in winter. The cowshed must clean the feces and urine regularly every day, pay attention to ventilation inside the barn, brush the cattle every day, drive the cattle out of the barn every day, bask in the sun and exercise, so as to enhance the physique and disease resistance of the cattle, so as to achieve the goal of gaining weight and gaining weight.
