Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Pig farmers should beware of the six misunderstandings of raising pigs.

One misunderstanding: pellet feed with water and

When water is mixed into porridge in pellet feed, its nutritional composition is often destroyed and its nutritional value is reduced. The correct way is to feed the pigs with pellet feed and then water.

The second misunderstanding: castration and epidemic prevention.

At present, some sow farmers attach great importance to epidemic prevention, but ignore scientific methods. One is to save trouble by castrating piglets, followed by vaccination, and the other is that sows are vaccinated when they are pregnant. Zhou Hongchao said that on the one hand, it is easy to make the wound of piglet castration difficult to heal, at the same time, the effect of epidemic prevention is also relatively affected. On the other hand, sows are particularly sensitive to external stimulation after pregnancy, epidemic prevention is a strong stimulus, vaccination is easy to cause stillbirth or abortion. Therefore, it is best for sows not to be vaccinated after pregnancy, while piglets should be vaccinated 10 to 15 days after castration.

Myth 3: only analgin is used to treat diseases.

Some peasant friends saw that the pigs did not eat and had a fever all over the body, so they hurriedly injected a large dose of analgin. It is believed that as long as the body temperature is lowered, the pig disease will be cured. In fact, Analgin has a lot of side effects, which can easily cause anaphylactic shock in pigs, a sharp drop in body temperature, respiratory and circulatory failure and sudden death.

Myth 4: pregnant sows are not diagnosed and treated.

Some farmers think: after the sow is pregnant, it will be disadvantageous to the piglet fetus if she is injected with medicine when she is ill. But this understanding is wrong. Because in clinic, some drugs, such as tetracycline, streptomycin, chloramphenicol and aspirin, are injected intravenously to pregnant pigs. the drug does not enter the fetal body through the liver, so it is highly toxic, but if it is taken orally, the drug will be detoxified by the liver. It becomes safe and effective.

The fifth misunderstanding: feed nutrition is not comprehensive

Some farmers feed their pigs whatever they have, as long as the pigs are full. It does not pay attention to the fineness of feed, let alone the nutrition and daily feed needed by pigs at different growth stages. In this way, not only the feed utilization rate is reduced, the feeding cost is increased, but also the pig grows slowly and the fencing time is prolonged. Zhou Hongchao reminded that pig breeding must be based on the nutritional needs of pigs at different growth stages, and corn, cake, fish meal, bone meal, additives, vitamins, etc., should be evenly mixed in proportion to make a nutritious and comprehensive feed. In this way, pigs can gain weight quickly, get out early, reduce costs, and have high economic benefits.

Misunderstanding 6: raw meal is much wasted in cooked feeding.

Raw meal cooked feeding, first, destroyed the nutritional composition of the feed, resulting in a reduction in the nutritional value of the feed; second, labor, fuel consumption, increased expenditure; third, feeding cooked water diluted, it seems that pigs eat more, in fact, most of what they eat is water. Excessive intake of water in pigs will also affect their normal physiological functions such as digestion and absorption and increase the burden on the kidney. Therefore, the wet mixture should be fed in the production, and the water content of the feed should be held by hand and scattered on the ground.
