Pearl-necked turtledoves, also known as carvings, birds of prey, middle spots, flower-necked turtledoves, flower-necked turtledoves, pearl doves, turtledoves, bead-necked pigeons and turtles, are common turtledoves distributed in South Asia, Southeast Asia and southern China.

What does the turtledove eat?

Turtledoves mainly feed on plant seeds, especially crop seeds, such as rice, corn, wheat, peas, soybeans, kidney beans, rape, sesame, sorghum, mung beans and so on. Sometimes they also eat animal foods such as fly maggots, snails and insects.

Foraging habits of turtledoves with bead neck

The beaded-necked turtledove usually leaves the perch tree to look for food on the ground after dawn. Often call for a while before leaving the habitat. Foraging activities are more active at 7-9 am and 3-5 pm.

1. Distribution in China: throughout central and southern China, west to western Sichuan and Yunnan, north to southern Hebei and Shandong, and south to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Hainan Island.

2. Other distribution: in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indo-China Peninsula and Indonesia, has been introduced to Australia and the United States.
