Abstract: the centipede belongs to the class Mipoda. The first pair of feet are hooked and sharp, with poisonous glandular mouth at the end of the hook, commonly known as palatal teeth, claws or poisonous limbs, which can expel poison. After being bitten by the centipede, its venom glands secrete a large amount of venom. The venomous glands of the cis-palatal teeth are injected subcutaneously into the person who has been bitten, resulting in poisoning.

The centipede belongs to the class Mipoda. After being bitten by the centipede, its venomous glands secrete a large amount of venom. The venomous glands along the palatal teeth are injected subcutaneously into the bitten person and cause poisoning. Centipedes are poisonous, but the toxicity of each species of centipede is different, and its size also affects it. Usually, the smaller the centipede is, the less toxic it is.

What are the symptoms of a centipede bite?

1, the small centipede bite, only in the local redness, swelling, pain.

2, big centipede bite, can cause lymphangitis and tissue necrosis, sometimes the whole limb appears purple epilepsy. Some can see headache, fever, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and even dyspnea, convulsions, coma and other systemic symptoms.

Emergency treatment of centipede bite

1. Wash the wound with soapy water immediately after the centipede bite, apply cold and wet compress locally, or mash it with Houttuynia cordata and dandelion. Those with systemic symptoms go straight to the hospital for treatment.

2. At 2cm to 3cm of the upper end of the injured limb, tie it tightly with a cloth band and relax for 1 or 2 minutes every 15 minutes. Ice can be applied around the wound, the skin of the wound can be cut open, venom can be sucked out with suction or cupping, and potassium permanganate solution and lime water are used to wash the wound. Those with severe symptoms should be treated in hospital.
