Crocodile turtles look like crocodiles, set turtles and crocodiles in one, so it is called crocodile turtles. Its head is thick and cannot be completely retracted into the shell, the neck is short and stout, the neck is long with brown thorns, the eyes are small, the upper jaw of the mouth is small, the kiss tip, the tail is sharp and long, both sides are angled, and there are flesh thorns on the edges. There is a scaly protruding edge back at 2/3 on the back of the tail, and is serrated, the dorsal shell is very thin, the epithelium is mainly brown, occasionally brown, and the back has three fuzzy edges and radial markings. The trailing edge is toothed, the abdomen is white, occasionally with small black spots, black when young, strong limbs, well-muscled, sharp and powerful claws, good at crawling.

The bite strength of crocodile turtles is the second highest in the world. If forced, it will become very aggressive. The upper and lower jaws at the front of its mouth are hooked, like an eagle's beak, and are extremely sharp. Adult crocodile turtles can easily bite off a person's finger, and they must be played with extreme care.

The crocodile turtle has an olecranon-shaped upper jaw, a large hook, numerous tentacles on its head, neck and abdomen, and three raised longitudinal ridges on its back armour, brown, each shield has a protuberance, abdominal armour brown, with upper edge shield, and a long tail. There is a wormlike appendage at the bottom of the mouth, which often lures nearby fish with its mouth open in the water.
