Abstract: tilapia, also known as African crucian carp, southern crucian carp, Vietnamese fish, tilapia, Fushou fish, goldfish and so on, are freshwater farmed fish cultivated for the key scientific research of the world aquaculture, which usually live in fresh water, can also live in salt water with different salt contents, and can also live in the shallow water of lakes, rivers and ponds. Let's take a look at what bait we use to catch tilapia.

Tilapia, also known as African crucian carp, southern crucian carp, Vietnamese fish, tilapia, Fushou fish, goldfish and so on, are freshwater farmed fish cultivated for the key scientific research of the world aquaculture. They usually live in fresh water and can live in salt water with different salt contents. They can also survive in the shallow waters of lakes, rivers and ponds. Let's take a look at what bait we use to catch tilapia.

What kind of food does tilapia eat?

Tilapia is a plant-based omnivorous fish. For tilapia in the pond, most of the contents in the digestive tract are organic detritus and other plant feed (such as aquatic plants, commercial feed, etc.), followed by phytoplankton, zooplankton and a small number of benthos. The growth temperature of tilapia is 16-38 ℃. Tilapia is a widely salty fish. It can live in both sea and fresh water. It is resistant to hypoxia and generally lives in the lower layer of water, but it changes with the change of water temperature or fish size.

What kind of bait does tilapia use?

1. Fishmeal noodle bait: tilapia likes to eat fishy bait, no matter what kind of fishy food, such as octopus meal, shrimp meal, silkworm pupa powder and so on. Take 35% of corn flour (sifted), 35% of flour and 30% of fish bait, mix well with water to make a nest head, steam in the cage, knead it into dough while hot, knead it into a small cake when fishing (sea pole fishing), if made and fishing with a hand rod, you can knead it into a small dough and hook.

2. Shrimp powder noodle bait: take 60% of corn flour, 20% of flour, 10% of fried soybean powder, 10% of shrimp powder and a little brown sugar mixed with water to make a nest head, steam, remove and knead into dough while hot. If you use a sea pole for fishing, you can knead it into a small cake assembly hook or into a small dough with a string hook. If you use a hand rod to fish into a small dough with a double hook or a single hook.

3. Silkworm pupa powder flour bait: 70% flour, 10% glutinous rice powder and 20% silkworm pupa powder are mixed and adjusted into a paste, then put into a pot or iron spoon and boil over a low fire, stir until they are thick and sticky and can be kneaded into a small dough. The bait is made with glutinous rice flour because the amount of silkworm pupa powder is large, and the silkworm pupa powder contains a lot of water, so it will become thin and sticky over a period of time, and it is easy to fall off when hung on the hook. Especially in summer fishing tilapia, any meat bait with more water will become thinner or stale or taste, affecting the effect of fishing.

Fishing skills of tilapia

1. Pole fishing tilapia

[fishing tackle] hand pole fishing tilapia can be 3.6 meters, 4.5 meters, 5.4 meters FRP or carbon hand rod, with No. 3 high strength line as the main line, sub-line with No. 2, hook with Iseni No. 7 # 8 or Maru No. 12 # 13 hook, the straight standard port can also be used without sub-line, it is more convenient to tie the hook directly to the lower end of the main line.

[bait] two kinds of baits can be used for manual fishing of tilapia, one is commercial powder bait (feeding fish pellet feed is more appropriate), and the other is red earthworms. Once the group of fish into the nest, you can immediately use a 3.6-meter hard rod, using the "three noes" fast fishing method (that is, hands do not leave the rod, target, finger do not leave the bait), and strive to fish as soon as possible.

2. Tilapia fishing with sea pole

[fishing gear] there are two forms of conventional fishing group for sea pole fishing tilapia, one is bomb fishing group, and the other is string fishing group. It is better for the rod to be 3 meters long, and it is easy to throw long hooks, which can operate freely near and far away. The fishing boat winds a 100-meter home-made nylon line of 0.3 mm, and a quick knot is tied to the bomb hook. The length of the hook is determined according to the number of hooks. At most, 6 hooks can be used, and the length of the sub-line is locked 1: 1.2 meters.

[bait] there are many baits for tilapia caught by sea pole bomb hooks, but there are two kinds of baits commonly used here, one is chafing into balls or pellet feed is thrown into far bottom fishing in the form of grape hooks, and the other is earthworms, one for each hook, the effect is often better than the former.
