Minks live in areas such as rivers and lakes, and live in natural caves along the bank. They are semi-aquatic animals, good at swimming and diving, and prefer to play and breed animals in summer. Let's take a look at the mink's living habits.

Clustering

Wild raccoon dogs usually live in pairs, one male and one female in each hole, and there are also more than one male or more female. The parents and young raccoon dogs in the neighboring hole usually play together, and the female raccoon dogs sometimes breast-feed each other regardless of each other. Under the condition of domestic breeding, this characteristic can be used to keep the young raccoons in a group of 10 to 20 and raised in captivity.

conceal oneself by day and march by night

The characteristic of wild raccoon dogs is very obvious. They sleep in caves during the day, and come out to move and hunt for food in the evening and around dawn. On the other hand, domestic raccoon dogs can move all day long, which basically changes the characteristics of sleeping during the day and going out at night. The range of activities of domestic raccoon dogs is relatively small, and most of them move back and forth in a straight line in the cage, and they are dull and tame. Show paranoia and timidity when people approach.

Fixed point defecation

Whether wild raccoon dogs or domestic raccoon dogs, the vast majority of feces are excreted to a fixed location. Most of the wild raccoon dogs line up near the entrance of the cave and accumulate in piles over time. Most of the domestic raccoons are lined up in a corner of the cage. Very few people defecate in pots, basins or crates. Once such raccoons are found, timely measures should be taken, otherwise after the habit is formed, it will be more difficult to break it.

Winter rest

Under wild conditions, in order to avoid the severe cold in winter and endure the extreme shortage of feed, it often lives deep in the nest, reduces the level of metabolism, consumes the subcutaneous fat accumulated since autumn, in order to maintain its low level of life activity, and forms non-persistent hibernation, which is characterized by less food, less activity and lethargy, so it is called semi-hibernation or hibernation. Under domestic conditions, due to human interference and adequate feed, hibernation is not very obvious, but most of the activities are reduced and the appetite is decreased. When domestic raccoon dogs spend the winter in Northeast China, it can be reduced from daily feeding twice in other seasons to daily feeding once or once every 2-3 days.
