Budgerigar is native to eastern Australia, with a wide variety, naughty and lovely, widely loved by the public, simple artificial breeding, extensive management, tolerance to roughage, strong physique, not easy to get sick, and easy to breed. It has become a worldwide caged bird. Let's take a look at the breeding methods of budgerigar.

Budgerigar breeding time

Budgerigar usually reaches sexual maturity at the age of 4 months. It begins oestrus in May and June and can reproduce when it is fully estrous. The male bird will feed the female bird, and the female bird may take the initiative to step on the back, or the male bird may take the initiative to put up the foot on the female bird's back and ask for the back. It can breed all the year round.

Breeding methods of budgerigar

1. Budgerigar can generally lay 410 eggs per litter. The eggs are white and lay one egg every day or every other day. When laying the third egg, the female begins to sit on the nest and hatch. The hatching period is 18 days. Male and female parent birds raise their nestling together, and the nestling period is about 30 days. The female is more sensitive to external interference during the hatching period, so as to keep the environment quiet as far as possible, lest the parent birds abandon their nests after being frightened, affecting hatching and brooding.

2. The room temperature of breeding birds in winter should be kept above 20 ℃, the relative humidity should be 45%-50%, and indoor ventilation should be maintained. The breeding peak period can reach 3-4 years, and then the reproduction rate decreases gradually. in order to purify and rejuvenate the breeding birds, the breeding birds should be renewed constantly, and the average life span is 7-10 years.

Identification of male and female of budgerigar

1. Tiger skin chicks: the wax film of male birds is basically pink, which is suitable for young birds after coming out of the nest for a month (because it is difficult to judge the early nasal congestion of birds). The female bird is white around its nostrils and occasionally pink, but very light.

2. Sub-adult birds: according to different species, the wax film color of male birds is blue, while those of hermit males and double genes are pink, lifelong pink and purple. There is white around the nostrils of the female bird, and the outside is very light blue or the wax film is white.

3. Tiger skin adult bird: according to different species, the wax film color of male bird is blue, the formula of hermit male and double gene is pink, lifelong peach, with a little purple. Some female birds have white wax film (it may be ebb in estrus, and some female birds are not in estrus). Some wax membranes are wrinkled and brown (that means the mother is in estrus).
