Money turtle, scientific name for the three-line shell turtle, also known as red-sided turtle, gold-headed turtle, red-bellied turtle, is a traditional Chinese medicine. Because the resource of money turtle is very scarce, it is very popular in international and domestic markets, and the market price of money turtle is relatively high, so the economic benefit of artificial breeding money turtle is very considerable. The technology of indoor small-scale breeding money turtle is introduced as follows.

Preparation and disinfection of culture ponds

Money turtle breeding pond is built indoors, generally rectangular cement pond, area of about 1.0 square meters ~10.0 square meters, pool wall height of 1.0 meters, to prevent money turtle escape. The bottom of the pool and the inner surface of the pool wall are smooth, the bottom surface of one end (2/3) of the pool bottom is inclined at 15 degrees, the depth of water storage at the deep end is about 35.0cm, and a drain is installed. After breeding the turtle, some shelters were placed randomly in the pond to simulate the natural environment in the wild, so that the turtle could grow in a quiet and comfortable state. Before stocking, disinfect the culture pond thoroughly with bleaching powder solution with concentration of 100mg/L for 12 hours, then drain the solution out of the pond, and rinse the residual solution in the culture pond with clean water.

hatchlings stocking

selecting artificially propagated and cultured young money turtles with an average weight of more than 30g, liveliness, health, quick reaction and good constitution, and stocking density of 3 - 8 per square meter. The same pond is required to stock young turtles with basically the same specifications, and put enough at one time, and cultivate them in the same pond until they are listed on the market.

Feed selection and feeding

The feed for raising money turtle is divided into two categories: animal feed and plant feed. The animal feed selects lean pork, animal viscera, fish, shrimp, shellfish meat, etc., and the plant feed selects banana (peeled) and apple, etc. Animal feed was the main feed, and the two kinds of feed were used alternately. The feeding frequency of plant feed was about 1/7 of that of animal feed. From observing the feeding situation of Jincha money turtle, we know that money turtle likes to eat lean pork and banana. When feeding, the feed should be chopped up. When the indoor temperature is below 25 ℃ and above 30 ℃, feed once at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day respectively. The daily feeding amount accounts for 5% of the weight of the money turtle. It should be adjusted at any time according to the actual feeding situation. The feeding amount should be eaten within 1 hour after feeding. After feeding for 1.5 hours, remove the residual bait and wash the feed table.

Water source selection and water quality regulation

Water from clean rivers, reservoirs, well water and tap water can be selected for money turtle breeding, but well water and tap water are best exposed to sunlight in outdoor reservoirs for more than 2 days before use. During the breeding process of money turtle, water quality needs to be adjusted by changing water. When the temperature is appropriate, change the water once a day. When the temperature is high in summer and autumn, change the water 2-3 times a day, change all the culture pond water every time, wash the whole culture pond with rubber hose spray, and simulate artificial rainfall with shower method to improve the appetite of money turtle. When the temperature is low in winter and spring, change the water once every 2-3 days, and the water change amount is consistent with all the pool water.

Adjust the light and temperature.

By artificial method, light bulbs are hung above the culture pond to adjust the temperature of light. In summer and autumn, 25W-40W electric bulbs are used as light sources to improve the illumination conditions of indoor culture ponds. The operation method is to turn on the lights for 8 hours in the daytime and turn off the lights at night. If the indoor temperature is above 32 degrees, start the indoor ceiling fan to reduce the indoor temperature. When the temperature is lower than 25 degrees in spring and autumn, 40W-60W electric bulbs are used as heat sources for heating. When the winter temperature is 15 degrees, the 60-100W light bulb is used as the heat source, and the lights are turned on day and night, and the range of change is maintained at 20 - 30 degrees.

Do a good job in disease prevention and treatment

In order to prevent the occurrence of diseases in the breeding process of money turtles, preventive work must be done. The specific method is: every 2 weeks, use 10mg/L bleaching powder solution or 2% salt solution to soak and shower the turtle body for 5 - 10 minutes to prevent common bacterial diseases; soak or shower the turtle body with concentrated kelp for 5-10 minutes to prevent and control the occurrence of big neck disease of money turtle. Especially found that the appetite of money turtle decreased, slow action, with concentrated kelp extract bath turtle body for 10 minutes, can improve the appetite of money turtle, disease prevention effect is very good. Oxytetracycline bait is fed once a week, that is, ground mold powder is mixed in mashed lean pork, and the dosage is calculated by adding 1/5 piece of oxytetracycline to each 100 g young turtle. Put the money turtle in the outdoor dry sand pool (pay attention to escape) to dry its back once a week. It is better to dry it in the sun at 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., 20 minutes-30 minutes each time in summer and autumn, and 30 minutes-60 minutes each time in winter and spring. By sunning the back, it not only plays a role in sterilization, but also creates conditions for the conversion of vitamin D on the turtle body surface into vitamin D, and enhances the disease resistance of the turtle body.
