In order to improve yellow cattle with low productivity into dual-purpose cattle with high productivity, we must break the conservation of low yield yellow cattle, absorb the heredity of introduced high yield varieties by biological hybridization, and achieve the goal of continuously improving production performance.
The various economic traits of domestic animals are transmitted from parents to their offspring by means of nuclei in sexual cells containing substances that produce such shapes. This substance is called a gene, and it exists in a certain position on the chromosome of a cell. The chromosomes in the cells of livestock are paired. When the sex cells mature, meiosis occurs. Only one chromosome in each pair enters the sex cells, that is, only half of the genes in the cells of livestock enter the sex cells today. When fertilization, the chromosomes of male and female reproductive cells are combined, and the genes of their bodies are paired again. All kinds of characters of parents are transmitted to offspring in this way. Under normal circumstances, each parent's influence on the offspring is 50/50. Crossbreeding of domestic animals is the application of this biological law to improve production performance.
In general, cattle hybrid offspring growth and development vigorous, strong vitality, high production performance, this phenomenon is called heterosis. From the biological point of view, hybridization has three characteristics: one is to enrich the heredity of the organism, and various hybrid offspring have the heredity of both parents, and sometimes they may show new characteristics that neither of the two varieties has; the other is to shake the heredity of the organism. Due to the genetic heterogeneity of both crosses, the hybrids obtained after hybridization showed genetic instability. This increases both variability and plasticity, which can be used to make the hybrid offspring develop in the direction needed. Third, it improves vitality. Due to the large difference between the sexual cells of the two sides of the hybrid, it can produce strong vitality after combination.
After hybrid improvement, cattle can change the low yield genotype of raw materials, not only produce hybrid heterosis, but also combine the excellent characteristics of different parents, and then improve production performance. The purpose of hybridization is to make its offspring retain the advantages of good adaptability to local natural conditions, strong disease resistance and coarse feeding tolerance; absorb the advantages of introduced exotic breeds such as large body, fast weight gain, high feed utilization rate, good milk and meat production performance, etc., and systematically fix various beneficial shapes that people hope to become a breed or a new group.
