Scavenger fish, also known as sucker fish, garbage fish, anglerfish, etc., originated in rivers throughout South America, can generally grow up very big in the place of origin, due to the habit of eating garbage and algae, people are called cleaners in aquariums. In many aquariums, we will find the figure of scavenger fish mixed with other aquariums. Let's take a look at why the doffer fish died.

How long can the fish live?

The life span of the street sweeper is long and short, not to say that he will live for a few years, as short as 1-2 years, as long as 6 years old, or even longer or shorter life span, but can not be separated from the water environment. Many of the causes of death of scavengers include starvation. In particular, adult scavengers eat a lot more, but there are also cases of freezing to death, and the environment is the deadliest for scavengers.

What kind of food does the street sweeper eat?

Scavengers are omnivorous fish, sucking algae, benthos and garbage in the water, and can also devour fish eggs and fry in large quantities. In the aquarium, it is often adsorbed on stones and glass to stabilize the body and suck algae, and it is also looking for benthos (such as water earthworms). Small pellets of feed floating on the water surface will be sucked upside down by belly, and the mouth is like a vacuum cleaner. Fish dung and green plants are all sucked into the stomach. There is also a bubble in the mouth, which is filled with oxygen and can be in the water for a long time.

Why did the street sweeper die?

1. Scavengers are nocturnal fish who like to hide in dark places during the day and come out to look for food at night. if the cylinder is very clean and there is no algae to eat, and there is no fish food in the fish tank, it will starve to death. in this case, you can feed some fish food before turning off the lights.

2. The street sweeper can't stand the low temperature. if you change water, the temperature difference should not exceed three degrees, and don't pour the water directly on the fish, otherwise it will easily kill you. The water quality that the scavenger can adapt to is weak acid soft water or neutral water. If there are conditions, the tap water should be precipitated and then used in the sun for 2 days. If there is well water, the effect will be better.

3. The scavenger is not tolerant to salt. Salt can not be added to the vat of the scavenger. Adding salt can easily lead to the death of the scavenger.
