What do beetles eat?

Scarab gnaws plant roots and tubers or seedlings and other underground parts. It is the main underground pest. It injures plant leaves, flowers, buds and fruits and other aboveground parts. Adults bite leaves into net-shaped holes and notches. Only the main veins are left when serious. It is more serious when it is crowded. It often bites most from evening to 10 p.m. Scarab adults have different feeding habits, some feed on plant roots and leaves, some feed on rotten organic matter, and some feed on feces. Larvae live in the soil and feed on organic matter in the soil.

Are beetles pests?

Scarabs are pests. The life cycle of chafers is longer. Except adults emerge for a part of the time, other insect forms live underground. In China, the time to complete one generation is generally 1~2 to 3~6 years. They overwinter as larvae and adults. There are two types of night-emergence type and sunrise type. The night-emergence type feeds at night and has different degrees of phototaxis, while the sunrise type feeds actively during the day. Scarabs are completely metamorphosed. Common Species of Scarabs

1. Scarab aeruginosa: adult Scarab aeruginosa is 18~21 mm long and 8~10 mm wide. Copper green on the back, glossy, yellow on both sides of the pronotum. Coleoptera have chestnut reflection, and there are three longitudinal striations raised. The ventral surface of male insects is dark brown, while the ventral surface of female insects is light brown. The eggs are round and milky white. Larvae said the bad, milky white, fat body, and to the ventral surface curved into a "C"-shaped, there are 3 pairs of chest feet, the head is brown.

2. Korean black beetle: Korean black beetle adults are 20~25 mm long and 8~11 mm wide. Black-brown, shiny, elytra black-brown, two elytra junction was a longitudinal ridge, each elytra has 3 longitudinal ridges. The male has a sunken ventral middle with a deep transverse groove in front, while the female has a raised middle with no obvious transverse groove.

3. Dark beetle: Dark beetle adults are 18~22 mm long, 8~9 mm wide, dark brown and dull. There are three longitudinal ridges on the elytra. There are short blue-gray hairs on the wings and abdomen, and there are 4 inconspicuous longitudinal lines on the elytra.

4, brown beetle: brown beetle adult body length of about 10 mm, 4~5 mm wide. Dark brown, densely yellow-brown short hairs. There are four indistinct longitudinal lines on the elytra.
