Leeches have high medicinal value. It has been recorded in the Classic of Shennong Materia Medica that their dried products can be used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat stroke, hypertension, clearing blood stasis, amenorrhea, falling injury, and so on. In history, they are mainly natural fishing. With the development of the medicinal value of leeches, their market demand potential is huge. Let's take a look at how to make leech traps.

Leech grass handle catcher

Leeches are usually trapped with pig blood, first tie the dried straw into two tight loose grass handles in the middle, and then inject pig blood (0.5 kg per mu of field) into the straw handle and put it horizontally at the water inlet of the field, the water intake should not be too large. Generally speaking, water can slowly flow into the field through the grass. Let the water slowly rinse the pig blood into silk and scatter the whole field, and use the fishy smell of the blood to lure the leeches to the grass to absorb the pig blood that has not yet flowed out. When the leeches are full and the body expands, it will be difficult to climb out again. 4 to 5 hours after putting in the grass handle, the grass handle can be removed and leeches can be collected. If there is no pig blood, it can also be replaced by the blood of chickens, ducks, geese and other livestock and poultry, and the same effect can be achieved.

Leech bamboo basket catcher

Use a small bamboo basket, leave a small hole in the edge of the bamboo basket, put some duck blood, pig blood or chicken blood (solidified into blocks) in the bamboo basket, and put the bamboo basket into the water. Leeches are particularly sensitive to substances with a bloody smell, so they drill into the bamboo basket one after another and can be obtained by lifting the bamboo basket. If there is no bamboo basket, you can sew a pocket with a piece of nylon window gauze and leave a mouth. The bag contains chicken blood and duck blood. A rope is tied to the bag and thrown into the water. After a period of time, leeches can be obtained by lifting the pocket.

Leech screen catcher

First of all, to find a place with a large number of leeches, the greater the density, the better, it is recommended that the pond or riverside is better. Smear the made blood porridge on the screen window evenly and thoroughly, then drop the screen window into shallow water with stones, do not disturb the approach of leeches nearby, and try not to pull it up all the time. It is best to stay motionless all night. Dawn is the hunting season for leeches. Choose the hottest time to open the screen, collect the leeches, smear the plasma again and put the trapping utensils into the water to continue trapping.

Processing methods of leeches

1. Dry the clean water: hang the washed leeches in the sun with iron wire (preferably through the tail). Immediately after the leech dies, take it off the wire and put it on the cement ground or on the gauze cloth. Flatten it slightly with your hands when drying. Try to make the wire holes invisible to the dry leeches.

2. Water scalding method: the water scalding method is suitable for processing a large number of leeches, the collected leeches are cleaned and concentrated in the container, and the boiled water is poured into the container quickly. It is appropriate to submerge the leeches for 2 to 3 fingers. After about 20 minutes, the leeches will be removed, washed and dried. It is best to air on the screen, can be ventilated up and down to dry products, if found that some are not hot to death to choose to hot again.

3, alum processing: put the washed leeches into the container, add the right amount of alum, 100 kg leech / 25 jin alum. Then turn the leeches up and down with both hands (wearing rubber gloves) and rub them while turning them. Under the action of alkali powder, the leeches gradually dehydrated, shrunk and died. After 24 hours, wash it with clean water and dry it in the sun. This method is only suitable for processing dead leeches salvaged from the pool or when there is no way to dry in rainy weather for a long time.

4. Stifling method: put the cleaned leeches into the container, pour into the high liquor (usually more than 50 degrees) to submerge the vermiculite, cover and seal for about half an hour, and so on, after the leeches are removed and cleaned, they can be dried in the sun. This processing method has the best quality of dry products, but the cost is too high.
