The black snake is a large non-poisonous snake of the family Serpidae, which has the advantages of fast growth, strong adaptability, high disease resistance, best-selling market, and is very suitable for artificial breeding. it can be used in medicine to dispel wind, dredge collaterals and stop spasmodic effect. it can treat rheumatism stubborn arthralgia, numb clonus, strabismus and other diseases, with high breeding prospects. Let's take a look at the breeding technology of black snakes.

Identification of male and female of black shoot snake

The female and male bodies of the black snake are similar, and the male has a larger head, smaller abdominal scales, more phosphorus under the tail, especially the base of the tail is longer than the female, with a pair of "half penis" and slightly dilated. The most accurate identification method is to put the ventral part of the black snake upward, find out its anal hole, press a few centimeters behind the anal hole with your thumb, squeeze from back to front, and there is a pair of "semi-penis" protruding from the anal hole. The head of the female snake is slightly smaller than that of the male snake, the abdominal scale is more, the subtail scale is less, and the tail is shorter than the male snake, and the tail suddenly becomes thinner after the anal foramen, and the anal foramen is flat and concave, using the same method mentioned above to press the thumb a few centimeters behind the anal foramen. There is no one-and-a-half penis protruding from back to front.

Selection of black snake species

Female snakes usually lay eggs from July to August, laying 70 eggs at a time, and the incubation period is 45 to 50 days. Female snakes account for 51% of the proportion of males and females, fertilized eggs account for 91.4% of the number of eggs laid, natural hatching rate is 64.6%, and natural survival rate is 30%. In order to improve the reproductive efficiency, snakes over 3 years old, weighing more than 400 grams, with strong physique, no injuries, good growth and development, lively and active, flexible crawling, strong curling ability, rapid and powerful movement and strong reproductive ability, should be selected. The ratio of female to male can be 5: 8.

Zaocys dhumnades mate and lay eggs

The breeding period of Zaocys dhumnades is from May to July every year, when the snake is in estrus, the male snakes are put into the female snakes for human use, and they are allowed to mate freely. In order to check whether the female snake is pregnant, gently hold her neck with one hand and touch the anal hole with the other hand from the female's abdomen. If she is pregnant, the closer the convex and concave part to the anal hole is, the closer the snake is to the date of egg production. If it is found that the convex and concave place is only 2-3 cm from the anal foramen, it indicates that the snake is about to give birth (usually it will lay eggs within 1 day). The snake that is about to give birth should be locked up in a snake box or spawning room to lay eggs. There is no fixed position for female snakes to lay eggs. Once snake eggs are found, they should be collected and hatched in time to prevent snake eggs from being exposed to sunlight and wind and rain for a long time, so that the hatching rate of snake eggs will be reduced due to the unequal factors of temperature and humidity.

Artificial hatching of Zaocys dhumnades

Most of the black snakes incubators use large cylinder cans, buckets or boxes as containers, and the bottom of the incubator is covered with a layer of clean sand about 30 cm thick (the ratio of sand to soil is 3:1). The humidity should be clutched and loosened by hand, and compacted. Then lay the snake's fertilized eggs horizontally (not vertically) on the sand in the container, add about 10 cm of sand to the eggs, and cover the incubator with cotton for heat preservation in high and cold areas. The incubator is then placed indoors and covered to prevent damage to snake eggs by rats, ants and mosquitoes. And pay attention to keep the effective incubation temperature above 28 ℃ and 30 ℃ relatively stable. If the incubation temperature is lower than 20 ℃, the incubation period will be prolonged and even it will be difficult for snake eggs to hatch. If the temperature is on the high side, the young snakes will hatch ahead of time, but the deformed snakes and mortality will increase. And should often spray water, make sandy soil keep absolute humidity at about 15%, turn eggs every 7-10 days, check their embryonic development according to eggs, find unfertilized eggs or dead embryo eggs should be picked up in time.
