The growth habit of leopard skin flower

Leopard skin flowers are native to tropical Africa, cultivated in parks (greenhouses) in North China, the stems are bright green, several plants are clustered together, about 10 cm high, shaped like cactus, quadrangular, slightly obtuse, edges with thick soft thorns, smooth, green, leafless, flowers solitary or several fascicled, oysters smooth, seeds with white silky seed hairs at the top. Sex likes to be warm and sunny, especially resistant to drought, waterlogging and cold.

Breeding methods of leopard skin flower

The cuttings or ramet propagation of leopard skin flowers are easy to survive, except in the midsummer season of high temperature and humidity. Cuttings can be cut from the mother plant or cut into tufted stems from the base, cut into cuttings 5 to 6 cm long, dry for 1 to 2 days, wait for scab formation in the incision, and insert into the loose semi-loam soil when the stem bark shrinks inward, less watering to keep the temperature 20: 25 ℃, about 10-15 days to take root, and when the root length is 3-4 cm, it can be put on the basin. Ramets are carried out in early spring, and water should be properly controlled after planting.

1. Soil: leopard skin flowers do not have high requirements for soil. General loam soil can be cultivated with coarse sand or sandy soil, and there is no need to add too much humus.

2. Temperature: leopard skin flowers should be kept outside during the growing season, with sufficient light to avoid the scorching sun. Warm rooms or sunny rooms should be placed near the windowsill in winter, and the room temperature at night should be kept above 5 ℃.

3. Fertilization: leopard skin flowers do not need big fertilizer, and can grow well by applying thinner liquid fertilizer once every 2 to 3 weeks. If the culture soil is changed for 2 to 3 times in summer and autumn, it can grow exuberantly without fertilization.

4. Watering: leopard skin flowers are not resistant to water and moisture, avoid rain in summer, overwatering or stagnant water in the basin are easy to cause root rot and death. Generally, it is only watered when the weather is dry, the stem is slightly wilted and the surface of the basin soil is white.

5. Toxicity: leopard skin flowers belong to the family Acanthaceae. Nine times out of ten, plants in this family are poisonous. If there is cultivation at home, it doesn't matter as long as you don't get the plant juice into your mouth and skin.
