Branch apricot is a succulent plant of the family Caryophyllaceae, a dicotyledonous phylum of angiosperms. Its leaves are fleshy and arranged in the shape of rabbit ears, with ornamental value. It is a more popular variety of succulent plants. It is mainly distributed in tropical arid regions such as southern Africa, Oceania and the Central Pacific. Let's take a look at the cultivation methods of branch apricots.

Flowerpot selection

When choosing a sowing bowl for branch apricots, it is best to choose tile pots with good permeability rather than ceramic flowerpots. Because only when the flowerpot is breathable, the pot soil is easy to dry, which is conducive to the germination of seeds. If you can't find a pottery basin, you can also choose a pottery basin. After the sowing bowl is ready, you should put the soil inside. The thickness of the soil into the basin should be controlled at about eight to ten centimeters, and two sides of three centimeters should be vacated.

Soil allocation

The soil used for sowing branch apricot should be soil with loose texture and good water conservation effect. It is best to use mixed soil. The mixed soil can be composed of nutritious soil, coal ash, sand, plant ash and perlite with a ratio of 4 to 4, and vermiculite to perlite at 4:6:1.

Sowing method

Before sowing apricots, spread a layer of sand evenly on the surface of the soil, then wet the sand with a spray can, and then spread the seeds evenly on the sand. As the seeds of branch apricots are very small, they can also be planted and mixed with fine sand before sowing. In order to improve the germination rate, the seeds need to be planted more densely, and there is no need to cover the soil after sowing.

Seedling stage management

After the branch apricot seeds germinate, the seedlings must be carefully managed because the seedlings are relatively fragile. In the branch apricot germination stage and even the seedling stage, should not be too wet, in order to prevent plant decay. Watering should be based on whether the soil is dry or not. it should not be watered directly to prevent the plant from drowning. Instead, immersion irrigation should be used to allow water to slowly infiltrate into the soil and slowly moisten the basin soil from a small hole in the bottom of the basin. Sometimes the roots of apricot seedlings grow to the surface of the soil, which requires gently burying the roots into the soil.

Sunshine management

Branch apricots like plenty of sunlight, but can not be exposed to the sun, so pay attention to shading the seedlings in summer. When the weather is very hot, you can put a water plate at the bottom of the flowerpot and pour water to keep the bottom of the pot humid. In the cold winter, move the branches of apricots to the corner where you can see the sun, and keep the basin soil slightly moist.

Fertilization management

Branch apricot seeds can be fertilized one to two months after germination. It should be noted that the bought fertilizer should be diluted as much as possible, and still apply fertilizer by immersion irrigation. If you have no experience in fertilization, you can not apply fertilizer first. When the seedlings of apricots grow out a lot, in order to let the seedlings absorb enough growth nutrients, they should be divided into pots in time. After dividing the pot, the seedlings need to be watered after a week.
