Yu Mei, also known as Lichuanhua, Sai Peony, Manyuan Spring, and Artemisia annua, is an annual herb of the opium poppy family, with colorful flowers and a long flowering period. it is suitable for planting in flower beds and flower borders, as well as potted or cut flowers. it is planted in a piece in the park, and the scenery is very pleasant. Let's take a look at the planting method of Yu Beauty.

The growing habits of Yu Mei

Yumeiren is native to Europe and is commonly cultivated all over the world. The suitable temperature for growth and development is 5-25 ℃. The flowering period is shortened and the temperature difference between day and night is large in areas with high temperature in spring and summer. The low temperature at night is beneficial to the growth and flowering, and it grows well in the high altitude mountain area, the flower color is more colorful, and the life span is 3-5 years. Cold-resistant, afraid of summer heat, like sunny environment, like good drainage, fertile sandy loam. Not resistant to transplanting, avoid continuous cropping and stagnant water, can be self-sowing. The florescence is from May to August.

The breeding method of Yu Mei

Yumei is mainly propagated by sowing, which is usually cultivated for 2 years, and can be sowed in spring and autumn. in general, spring sowing is from March to April and florescence is from June to July. The autumn sowing is from September to November, and the florescence is from May to June of the following year. In order to collect seeds, it is best to sow in autumn. The soil should be cleaned up fine, make the bed watered, and then sow or strip sow. Because the seeds of Yu Mei are small, when sowing, the soil should be leveled and beaten finely. After sowing, there is no need to cover the soil, but it can also be covered with a thin layer of fine sand. The thickness of the covered soil should not be seen (0.2-0.3 cm). In North China, because of the severe cold in winter, it is difficult for seedlings to survive the winter, so the direct seeding of "Lesser Snow" in early winter is often used, so that it can germinate and grow as soon as possible in spring.

The planting method of Yu Mei

1. Site selection: Yumei likes places with sufficient light and good ventilation, cold-resistant, not resistant to moisture and heat, not suitable for planting on over-fertile soil, not suitable for repeated cropping, and not suitable for raising seedlings and planting in low-lying, humid, fertile and poor light places, otherwise they will grow poorly and are prone to diseases. The requirement of soil is not strict, but loose and fertile sandy loam is the best.

2. Potted plants: in January, Yumei potted plants filled most of the old pots of loose soil with a flowerpot with an inner diameter of 20 centimeters, flattened, sowed 20 to 30 seeds, covered the soil with invisible seeds, and soaked the pot with water after sowing.

3. Interseedling: Yumei is usually cultivated as a biennial. When the seedling has 5 or 6 leaves, the interseedling is usually 30 × 30 cm. The beauty of Yu is not resistant to transplant, so it is best to broadcast live in the garden.

4. Fertilization: Yumei usually apply dilute liquid fertilizer 2 or 3 times before flowering, but do not apply too much fertilizer, otherwise diseases and insect pests are easy to occur. Apply thin fertilizer twice before overwintering and once liquid fertilizer before flowering. Apply topdressing for the last time before flowering to make the flowers colorful and forceful.

5. Watering: Yumei seedlings should not be watered too much during the growing period, but they should be kept moist. In general, it is not necessary to water the soil frequently, and the potted plant is watered every 3 to 5 days depending on the weather and pot soil conditions. About 60% of the maximum soil water capacity in the field is better for the development of Yu Mei. Less watering when overwintering, but more watering at the beginning of spring.

6. Diseases: the common diseases of Yumeiren are Fusarium wilt at seedling stage, which is sprayed with 1000 times of Topurazine wettable powder. Usually cotyledons are sprayed with chlorothalonil or tocopherol 1000 times a week after emergence for 2 or 3 times in a row.

7. Insect pests: common insect pests in Yumei are harmed by aphids. Adult nymphs are concentrated on tender shoots and suck sap on leaves. 35% egg worm net EC 1000 × 1500 times, 2.5% Uranus EC 3000 times, 50% mizhiling EC 1000 times, 10% permethrin EC 3000 times, 2.5% kungfu EC 3000 times, 40% chlorpyrifos EC 1500 times, 40% omethoate 1000 times, 2.5% fish rattan EC 1500 times.
