Persian chrysanthemum, also known as big Persian chrysanthemum, Qiuying, etc., are annual or perennial herbs of the autumn British genus of Compositae, with tall plants, elegant leaves and rich flowers and colors, which are suitable for arranging flower mirrors. planting beautification and greening on the edge of grass, around trees and roadsides is quite interesting, and it can also be planted on hedges, rocks, cliff slopes, tree altars or houses. Let's take a look at the planting method of Persian chrysanthemum.

Growth habits of Chrysanthemum morifolium

Persian chrysanthemum is native to America and Mexico, and is widely cultivated in China. It often grows in roadsides, ridges and stream banks, and there is a large area of domestication in Yunnan and western Sichuan. Light-loving plants, light-loving, poor soil, avoid fertilizer, too fertile soil, avoid hot, avoid stagnant water, do not adapt to high temperature in summer, not cold-resistant, need loose, fertile and well-drained loam, the main varieties are white-flowered Persian chrysanthemum, big-flowered Persian chrysanthemum, purple safflower Persian chrysanthemum, horticultural varieties are divided into early flower type and late flower type two systems, there are single and double petals.

Propagation methods of Persian Chrysanthemum

1. Sowing: northern China generally sows from April to June, blossoms one after another from June to August, hot climate from August to September, more overcast and rainy, flowering less, and continues to blossom until Frosts Descent after cool autumn. If it is sown from July to August, it will blossom in October, and the plant will be short and neat. In late March and early April, the seeds were sown in the open field seedbed, and the soil temperature could also germinate at a lower soil temperature of 15 ℃, but if sowed early, they would grow into giant plants with a height of 2 meters, and there were also early flowering varieties that blossomed 50-70 days after sowing, so they should be divided into early blooming and autumn blooming.

2. Cutting: cutting propagation is carried out in May. A sturdy top branch can be selected, a section 8 cm to 10 cm long can be cut as cuttings, 3 to 5 plants as a clump in a flowerpot, the pot should be buried in the soil, 4 cm to 5 cm exposed to the ground, watering shade, and rooting half a month later. Apply thin fertilizer solution every 15 days after rooting, and then remove the terminal bud when it reaches 15 cm to promote more branches. If the fertilizer and water are controlled properly, the flowers can be seen in about 45 days.

Planting methods of Persian chrysanthemum

1. Transplant: when the seedling has 4-5 true leaves, it can be removed from the heart, or after direct seeding. If the planting land is fertilized with base fertilizer, there is no need to apply fertilizer during the growing period. if the soil is too fertilised, the branches and leaves will grow easily and the flowering will decrease. During the period of high temperature from July to August, those who blossom are not easy to bear seeds.

2. Lighting: Persian chrysanthemum is strong in nature, likes sunshine, is resistant to drought, and is not strict with soil, but can not accumulate water. If it is planted in fertile soil, it is easy to cause branches and leaves to grow and affect the quality of flowering.

3. Fertilization: transplant seedlings with a height of 5 cm, colonize them with 7 leaves and 8 leaves, or plant seedlings after direct seeding. If the planting land is fertilized with base fertilizer, there is no need to apply fertilizer during the growing period. if the soil is too fertilised, the branches and leaves will grow easily and the flowering will decrease. Or during the growth period, 5 times water of mature urine is applied every 10 days, and water is irrigated 2-3 times during drought, that is, it can grow and bloom well. During the period of high temperature from July to August, those who blossom are not easy to bear seeds. The seeds are easy to fall off after maturity and should be collected in the early morning.

4. Coring: Persian chrysanthemum grows rapidly and can be picked many times to increase branches. Persian chrysanthemum plants are tall, and pillars should be set up in the windward to prevent lodging and damage. Generally, dwarf plants are bred, that is, the top is removed when the seedling is 20cm to 30cm high, and then the new terminal buds are removed several times in succession, so that the plant can be dwarfed and the number of flowers will be increased. The planting nursery should be slightly fertilized, and the seeds should be picked when the achenes turn slightly black, so as not to scatter after ripening.

5. Seed collection: the seedlings need to be treated with short days before they can blossom normally, and the appropriate sowing time should be grasped. Direct seeding in the open field is appropriate, and seedlings can also be raised. The sowing cover is about 1 cm, and the seedlings emerge in about 5 days. The seedlings are transplanted when they have 4 or 5 true leaves. During the period of high temperature from July to August, the seeds are not easy to bear seeds, and the seeds are easy to fall off after maturity, so the seeds should be collected in the early morning.

6. Management: the requirement of fertilizer and water is not strict, and the rotten urine with 5 times water is applied every 10 days during the growth period. High and medium-sized varieties need to set up pillars before flowering to prevent wind damage and lodging. They grow rapidly and can be plucked many times to increase branches. Red spider damage is easy to occur when it is hot, so it is advisable to prevent it as soon as possible. If it is sown from late July to early August, it can blossom after 50-60 days, and the plant is short and neat, which is used for National Day.
