Dendrobium, also known as Lin Lan, Forbidden Life, Dulan, etc., is a perennial herb of Orchidaceae, with elegant flowers, exquisite and lovely flowers, bright colors and fragrant smell, with high medicinal value and ornamental value. It is known as one of the "four ornamental flowers". Family culture mainly uses potted methods. Let's take a look at the pot planting method of Dendrobium.

Flowerpot selection

The pot plant of Dendrobium should choose the flowerpot with a larger diameter at the bottom or with holes around it, which requires good air permeability and good drainage, or you can fix Dendrobium directly on the rotten wood without flowerpots, because Dendrobium is an epiphyte. Under natural conditions, it mainly grows on the damp trunk or limestone of some tall trees.

Medium collocation

Dendrobium pot culture medium is different from general flowers, because Dendrobium can not use soil species, it is best to use water moss, gravel, peanut shell, moss, coconut bark, pine bark, wood chips, charcoal, wood blocks and other media with good water retention and ventilation.

Ramet propagation

Dendrobium is mainly propagated by individual plants. when dividing plants, one-year-old or two-year-old plants with bright green color, strong germination, developed root system and no diseases and insect pests are selected as seed plants, the withered branches, broken branches, old branches and overlong fibrous roots are cut off, and the plant clump is divided into small clumps with 5-7 stems with leaves in each cluster.

Conservation of environment

Dendrobium likes to grow in a warm, humid, half-yin and half-yang environment, so potted Dendrobium should be planted in a cool, moist and smooth air environment, but it should be placed in a place with plenty of light, but to avoid direct sunshine. for example, it can be placed under the windowsill or on the coffee table in the living room.

Planting technology

Sticking stone planting can be in the selected stone according to the plant distance of 30 cm to chisel out a hole, with cow dung mixed with thin mud to remove a thin layer in the planting place of the Cypriot stone cave or trough, trying to stabilize so as not to fall off, can be fixed with small stones. Stick to the tree and cut off part of the bark on the selected tree by 30cm to 40cm, coat the plant with a thin layer of cow dung and mud mixture, then stick to the bark at the broken bark or the tree longitudinal fissure, then cover with a layer of straw and tie it with bamboo slices.

Rational watering

Dendrobium potted plant is suitable for relatively high humidity environment, the most suitable humidity is 60% to 80%, the lower limit of humidity is 30%, and only 3% to 4% water is needed. Generally, it is watered every 2-3 days in summer, each time thoroughly. Water every other week in spring and autumn, thoroughly each time. It is watered every 10 days in winter, each time semi-transparent.

Timely fertilization

The barren growing area of Dendrobium should pay attention to topdressing. For the first time, nitrogen fertilizer was mixed with pig and cow manure and river mud before and after the Qingming Festival. The second time before and after the Beginning of Winter, peanut drum, rapeseed cake, calcium superphosphate and so on were added into the river mud to mix and paste in the root, in addition, fertilizer could be applied outside the root.

Maintenance method

1. Lighting: you need to put it in a place where there is plenty of light, but avoid direct sunlight.

2. Temperature: the most suitable temperature for Dendrobium growth is 15: 30 ℃, the highest is not more than 35 ℃, and the lowest is not less than 5 ℃.

3. Moisture: water every day in the high temperature season (May to October), watering the substrate every time. Other seasons depend on the humidity, wait until the substrate humidity is 30% to 40% before watering.

4. Humidity: Dendrobium is suitable for relatively high humidity environment, the most suitable humidity is 60% 75%, and the lower limit of humidity is 30%.

5. Substrate: all potted plants are equipped with substrates, and caregivers should not add sand by themselves.

6, fertilizer: fertilize according to the growth situation, when the growth of stems and leaves shows a weak state (light color, weak stems, etc.), it is necessary to add nutrient solution. The ratio of fertilizer to water is 1: 1000, that is, after adding 5 grams of water to half a liter of water, the leaves can be wet, and there is no need to wet the substrate.

7. Ventilation: ensure the oxygen content in the air in a well-ventilated environment.

8. Weeding: weeds, moss, fungi and other plants competing with Dendrobium in potted plants should be removed.

9. Disinfestation: pay attention to the effects of various insects, rats and other diseases and insect pests.

Note: when the environment of potted Dendrobium is open, Dendrobium should always be placed under the balcony big-leaf plants, which block too strong light, and growers usually only water them, and new buds of Dendrobium grow rapidly in overcast and rainy weather.
