Bauhinia, also known as Wuzhi mandarin, Wuzhifeng, bauhinia, etc., is a perennial deciduous shrub or small tree of Verbenaceae. It mainly produces provinces south of the Yangtze River in China, north to the Huaihe River in the Qinling Mountains, and is born in hillside roadsides or bushes. It is of high ornamental value and is often used for garden bonsai cultivation. The management is relatively extensive, and it is also very suitable for family potted plants. Let's take a look at the production and maintenance of Bauhinia bonsai.

How to draw materials from Bauhinia bonsai?

1. Artificial propagation: Bauhinia can be propagated by sowing, dividing plants, pressing strips and so on, but because the roots of artificially propagated seedlings are not thick, the leaves and branches are sparse, and the shape is not good, it is generally not suitable for making bonsai. At present, the materials of Bauhinia bauhinia bonsai are selected from the old root piles dug in the mountains and processed by cultivation.

2. Mountain mining: most of the bauhinia grows on the edge of the forest near the ditch in the low mountains and hills. The old stakes, which have been cut and sprouted for many years, the posture is old and Qiu qu, and are full of wild interest, can be dug from February to March in spring. Pay attention to protect the root system, cut off the overlong main root, and according to the needs of modeling, trim the branches, trim the tree stump, cultivate in the field in time, and carry on "raising embryo".

The making method of Bauhinia bonsai

1. Selection of pots: purple sand pottery pots or more beautiful glazed pottery pots are generally suitable for bauhinia pile scenery. the shape of the pots can be determined according to the shape of the tree, and the rectangular basin is the most common, and the basin color can be dark cinnabar purple or dark green.

2. Using soil: Bauhinia has strong adaptability and does not choose soil. Pot culture soil with loose and fertile, air permeability and good permeability of rural mature soil is better, and it is best to mix with appropriate amount of rice chaff ash and sandy soil, which is beneficial to root growth and development, pile scenery, leaves and branches, and improve its ornamental effect.

3. Planting: usually planted before sprouting in February to March in spring. When planting, cut off the overlong main root, leave more lateral root and whisker root, obstruct with fertile and loose soil, and pad the bottom of the basin to facilitate drainage.

Maintenance Technology of Bauhinia Bonsai

1. Management: Bauhinia is easy to survive, and some old stakes sprout late, but as long as the bark is green, it should be watered as usual, and new green buds will sprout in the rainy season. After survival, the bauhinia pile had better be kept in the shade for about half a month, and then placed in a ventilated sunny place, where the flood, fertilizer and light make it thrive.

2. Processing: the processing and modeling of Bauhinia should use the method of coarse pruning and fine pruning. According to the shape of the material, the main branches should be bent, and the branchlets and leaves should be trimmed. In order to coordinate the proportion of trunk and side branches, the excavated old bauhinia piles can be carved properly so as not to leave artificial marks as far as possible. It is better to use wire for climbing and binding, which can be used freely.

3, modelling: the old pile of Bauhinia is very ancient, the natural Shili stem, the hard ossified surface, especially eye-catching, but not the long pitch, large leaves, in order to enhance the strengths and avoid weaknesses, we need to start from the following aspects.

① pruning and shearing: the modeling principle for Bauhinia bonsai is coarse pruning and fine pruning. Before pruning, according to different pile shapes, cut off all the waste branches (overlapping branches, cross branches, head-on branches, whorled branches, etc.) and tie the remaining branches according to different branch directions.

② picking: picking leaves is usually carried out in early summer, early autumn or before the exhibition, leaving none of the leaves (be careful not to remove the leaf buds at the root of the petiole), after picking leaves to strengthen fertilizer and water management, without shade, about half a month, new leaves will be issued, the new leaves are only 1/2 of the original leaves.

③ topping: topping is to remove the new buds from the main branches, often topping and picking hearts during the growing period of Bauhinia bonsai.

④ fertilizer control: the so-called fertilizer control means that before the exhibition or during the viewing period, the bauhinia bonsai is only given water, not "soup". At the same time, watering should also be controlled, so that the basin soil is half-wet and half-dry.
