The output value of medical materials increased by nearly 10% in peak season
The Industrial Technical Knowledge Service Program (ITIS) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs released the review and outlook of the medical materials industry in the third quarter, which pointed out that the output value of medical materials in the third quarter was estimated to be about 22.3 billion yuan due to the peak season effect, up 9.6% from the previous quarter, setting a new high in a single quarter. ITIS pointed out that the main growth products of diagnostic monitoring medical materials, including sphygmomanometers, thermometers and ear thermometers, are mainly due to the upcoming winter season, which increases the procurement rate of such products.
In addition to OEM orders, many domestic manufacturers also sell their own brands for domestic and foreign sales, driving the growth of output value. In vitro diagnostic medical materials in the third quarter was affected by the reduction of health insurance benefits and the increase in export orders, and the output value increased by 21.2% from the previous quarter to 4.195 billion yuan.
In terms of the output value of various medical materials, the auxiliary compensation medical materials industry is still the category with the highest output value, with the output value of 5.811 billion yuan in the third quarter, but affected by the slight decline in the export of artificial joints and electric scooters, the output value decreased slightly by 0.2% compared with the second quarter, still growing by 33.6% compared with the same period last year.
ITIS pointed out that in recent years, the export of dental implants, artificial bones and other artificial implants has gradually seen results. In terms of body part compensation items, the export value in the third quarter increased by 14% compared with the previous quarter and increased by 30% compared with the same period last year, indicating that manufacturers have achieved good results in research and development and marketing of such products for several years.
Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, ITIS estimates that the output value of medical materials for this quarter will be $20.5 billion, down about 8% from the previous quarter due to the end of peak season. In 2013, the output value of medical materials maintained an estimated annual growth of 7% to 81.4 billion yuan.
