According to statistics, the output value of communications equipment in Taiwan decreased by 4.6% annually in the third quarter of this year, to about NT $223 billion. However, due to the 10.1% increase in global notebook sales in the third quarter, which was accompanied by an increase in shipments to the 802.11n-based WLAN module for notebook computers (NB), the market demand for smartphones and tablets grew steadily, and the proportion of built-in 802.11ac for high-end models began to increase, which contributed to the overall performance of the WLAN module.

In addition, the prices of WLAN power amplifiers (AP) and routers (Router) with built-in 802.11ac gradually decreased, people's willingness to buy increased, and shipments began to increase. Taiwan's WLAN output value in the third quarter of this year was 25.33 billion yuan, a slight increase of 0.8% over the second quarter, with an annual growth rate of 3.7%.

IEK ITIS, an industrial technology research institute, pointed out that demand for data centers, cloud computing devices and high-speed networks in North America and Chinese mainland contributed to Ethernet LAN Switch growth of 8.78% compared with the third quarter of last year. Trends such as data center network virtualization applications, cloud computing, virtual private network (VPN) and IPv6 migration also led to the growth of network equipment demand, especially the gradual increase in the proportion of 10G products, the steady increase in orders from major customers including HP, Dell, Juniper, Extreme and other brands, and the overall revenue performance showed a continuous growth trend.

According to statistics, the output value of Taiwan's Ethernet LAN Switch in the third quarter of this year was 18.76 billion yuan, an increase of 5.6 percent over the second quarter and 9.3 percent over the same period last year.
