The planting of sweet-scented osmanthus in China has a long history. In ancient Chinese poems, the number of works singing sweet-scented osmanthus is also considerable, and it has been deeply loved by the Chinese people since ancient times. Not only the tree shape is beautiful, the four seasons are evergreen, but also the flowers are full of fragrance when the autumn is high and crisp. It is widely used in garden construction. Let's take a look at the transplanting technology of sweet-scented osmanthus trees.

Transplanting time of Osmanthus fragrans

It is very necessary to choose the season when transplanting sweet-scented osmanthus trees, and the semi-dormant period of healthy trees can be selected generally (under normal circumstances). For example, Jiangnan can be carried out after the Mid-Autumn Festival to the end of the winter of the following year (from mid-September to around February 15 of the following year, except when the ice and snow is cold), because it is at this time its semi-dormant stage, and the new buds have not yet emerged, which is conducive to the coordination of various factors in the tree. At the same time, it can also be carried out in the plum rain season in the south of the Yangtze River, because the first growth peak of the tree in this period ends and has enriched the nutrition of the body, so the survival rate appears to be relatively high. On the contrary, in other seasons, according to the balance characteristics of tree survival, corresponding measures should be taken according to the actual situation of environmental factors, such as water, nutrition, oxygen, temperature, light and so on, so the transplantation is difficult and the cost is high.

Transplanting techniques of Osmanthus fragrans

1. Tree selection: sweet-scented osmanthus trees for transplanting should choose sweet-scented osmanthus trees with full shape, luxuriant branches and leaves, no diseases and insect pests, easy to dig and lift.

2. Digging: the newly planted tree hole should be dug about a week before transplanting. The diameter of the pre-dug tree pit should be about 1 meter larger than the packing diameter of the transplanted tree, and the height should be at the level of the transplanting packaging height. The excavated topsoil and the subsoil are placed separately, spread out to dry, and clean up the bricks, tiles and other impurities in the soil. According to the mixture ratio of 10 ∶ 1 (10 parts of soil), ferrous sulfate was mixed to increase the acidity of the soil, disinfect the soil and enhance the fertility at the same time.

3. Pruning: the pruning of sweet-scented osmanthus is one of the keys to transplanting. Because the sprouting ability of sweet-scented osmanthus is not strong, it is not advisable to cut off the stem and branch. The leaves of sweet-scented osmanthus can only be trimmed, cut off with scissors, leaving petioles, protecting axillary buds, and retaining 1/3 of the original leaves, which can not only reduce water evaporation, but also retain the beauty of the original crown.

4. seedling emergence: the transplanting of sweet-scented osmanthus is best in hard packaging, and the sweet-scented osmanthus trees to be transplanted should be watered once a week in advance, so that their roots can absorb enough water, so it is easy to dig into balls, and the soil balls will not be scattered because the soil is too dry. The diameter of the soil ball should be 6 to 8 times the crown diameter of the plant 1 meter above ground, and the height is 70% of the diameter of the soil ball. It is better to dig big under the condition.

5. Planting: before planting, the original soil brought back by transporting sweet-scented osmanthus trees to the pre-dug tree hole should be backfilled with 10 to 15 cm. Because the sweet-scented osmanthus tree is not resistant to flooding, the depth of the planted sweet-scented osmanthus is 10 to 15 centimeters higher than the original ground. First of all, put the sweet-scented osmanthus tree in the direction of its original growth, and then put a plastic pipe in each of the four corners of the tree pit to increase the air permeability of the root after filling the soil. Then remove the formwork sequentially while backfilling to 1x3 of the height of the earth ball, fill the original soil close to the surroundings of the soil ball, and fill a solid layer to prevent the soil ball from breaking. All the tree pits are filled firmly, cofferdam, braced and watered for the first time.

6. Management: first, water permeable again 3 to 4 days from the first watering. Second, after all the water is dry, the remaining soil around the original tree pit is surrounded by the roots to form a mound with high middle height and low surroundings, so that the sweet-scented osmanthus tree will not be drowned because of stagnant water. Third, the spring water must be watered once next spring. Fourth, the leaves and branches were sprayed with the mixture of potassium dihydrogen phosphate and fungicides (carbendazim, etc.) at an average temperature of about 20 ℃. It not only carried out foliar topdressing for sweet-scented osmanthus trees, but also played a role in sterilization.

Matters needing attention in transplanting Osmanthus fragrans

1. Before transplanting a large sweet-scented osmanthus tree, if you have enough time, you can dig a ring-shaped trench with a depth of more than 60 cm in spring and autumn two years ago, where the diameter of the soil ball is 10 cm smaller than that of the earth ball. The lateral roots of the trees encountered were all truncated with sharp weapons. If you encounter a larger lateral root about 6 cm thick, use the method of peeling off an annular skin. After all the wounds were treated with "callus film", the ring groove was filled.

2. The time of transplanting sweet-scented osmanthus trees should be in early spring or autumn, preferably without wind and rain, the light is not strong, the soil dry humidity is moderate, and the ball intensity is the biggest, so as to avoid too dry or too wet to cause the soil ball to scatter and collapse.

3. The diameter of the soil ball is determined by about 7 times the DBH of the transplanted tree, and when it is excavated to a certain depth, the soil ball shrinks gradually, making the soil ball hemispherical. Great care should be taken in the process of excavation to avoid the rupture of the earth ball. All thick and thin roots should be cut off with sharp tools, and all wounds should be smeared with "callus film" to prevent water loss and bacterial infection.

4. When digging to a certain depth, make a 30cm wide waist band densely with a straw rope on the top of the soil ball. After the formation of the soil ball, "Big Tree Root Power No. 1" can be sprayed on the soil ball once, and then one end of the grass rope is tied at the base of the tree trunk, the soil ball is tightly wrapped at equal distance, and the trunk of the tree is also tightly wound with grass rope. Cut off most of the twigs and leaves, cut off the ultra-wide lateral trunk that affects transportation, and apply "callus film" to the wound. Then tie up the branches and reduce the crown to facilitate hoisting and transportation.

5. After cultivating the soil, the sweet-scented osmanthus tree immediately set up fixtures (four, from four directions) to support the tree to prevent the tree from wavering and affecting its survival. Using "Dashu Root Power No. 2", watering the roots at one time, "Dashu Root Power No. 1 and No. 2" can enhance root activity and promote rooting. If the soil is watered again in a short time, the soil should be kept moist but not wet, moist but not dry, and pay attention to ramming the soil, so that there is no gap between the soil ball and the soil, and the round table always maintains a fixed shape.

6. After transplanting, sweet-scented osmanthus trees arrange the crown in time, remove the broken or damaged branches and leaves in the process of transportation, cut off the leaves and twigs that do not affect the shape of the tree as far as possible, and apply "callus film" on the wound. The temperature is low in autumn and winter, and the metabolism of the tree is slow. If it is not pruned a lot, the false appearance of survival will appear. The following spring, the temperature rises, due to the root system has not recovered, insufficient water supply, a large number of branches and leaves will suddenly dry up, then it will be too late to rescue. When transplanting over the winter in autumn, you can add a layer of plastic film to the grass rope wrapped around the trunk, and cover the earth ball round platform with a film to keep warm and moisturize.

7. The sweet-scented osmanthus tree had better build a shade in time after transplanting, which can play an important role in protecting the high temperature and strong light in summer. in the case of continuous sunny and high temperature, the crown and trunk should be sprayed with water or transpiration inhibitor to maintain the humidity of the branches to survive.

Conclusion: transplanting Osmanthus fragrans is a difficult project, and it usually takes 3 to 5 years to restore it to its original tree shape and luxuriant degree. In the process, there can be no snub. As long as we use scientific methods, carefully and seriously treat every link, then success will become inevitable.
