Clover (four-leaf clover is a rare variety of Trifolium plants, meaning lucky clover) is a general term for a variety of herbs with three-finger compound leaves, also known as white clover, white clover, Dutch shake, etc., with three leaves, very cute, likable, let's take a look at how clover grows!

Clover growth habits

Clover likes warm, sunny, good drainage environmental conditions, the soil requirements are not strict, can adapt to various soil types, grow well in acidic soil, cold resistance is strong, when the temperature drops to 0℃, part of the old leaves are withered, the leaflets on the main root are close to the ground, stop growing, but other leaves remain green, easy to grow under strong shade, resulting in poor growth, resistance to harmful gas pollution and disease resistance.

Clover seeding and reproduction

1, sowing time: clover can be spring or autumn sowing, spring in late March, autumn in mid-September, mainly autumn sowing in the south, mainly spring sowing in the north, summer can also be sown, but after sowing must ensure that the topsoil is wet or covered with shade. The sowing amount of clover is 8~10 g/m2, and there are 1400~2000 seeds per gram of clover. Theoretically, there is 1 seed per square centimeter of soil, which can meet the needs of lawn formation. The actual sowing amount is larger than the theoretical sowing amount.

2. Sowing method: When sowing clover, divide the seeds according to the plot area and the determined sowing amount, mix the seeds with dry soil or fine river sand, and broadcast them manually. If the lawn is planted in a large area, the cyclone seeder can be used for sowing. The sowing depth is 1~1.5 cm. After the seeds are scattered into the lawn bed, the seeds can be raked into the soil with a lawn rake, or covered with fertile soil or substrate for 1 cm.

Clover planting method

1. Soil selection: clover seeds are small, seedlings are thin and weak, seedling growth is extremely slow, deep ploughing is needed before planting, the ground is leveled, the soil is finely divided, and the soil of the seeding layer is loose and flat.

2, timely fertilization: clover itself has the ability to fix nitrogen, but the seedling rhizobia has not yet been generated, should be supplemented with a small amount of nitrogen, in order to facilitate strong seedlings, increased application of phosphorus, potassium has a very good yield, until the clover grows up, only need to supplement phosphorus, potassium.

3. Conservation and management: Clover has higher requirements for soil moisture, and irrigation conditions are available. When the soil is dry, irrigation is carried out in combination with topdressing. Clover lawn growing more than 2 years, soil compact, poor permeability, in spring and autumn before green and grazing mowing before regeneration, to rake soil loosening, combined with loosening fertilizer, in order to facilitate the growth and development of new roots.

4. Disease and pest control: Clover has few diseases, but sometimes brown spot disease and powdery mildew occur if harvest is not timely. It can be cut and utilized first, and then controlled with Bordeaux mixture, stone sulfur mixture or carbendazim. The stems and leaves are easily damaged by scale insects. Spray with 40% omethoate emulsion 1000 times.
