Goldfish grass is very suitable for viewing because of its gorgeous flowers and colors. at the same time, it is also a single traditional Chinese medicine, which has the effect of clearing away heat and detoxification, cooling blood and reducing swelling. In production, it is mainly used to sow and reproduce, and fine varieties of goldfish grass can be propagated by cuttage in order to improve its reproduction rate. let's take a look at the method of cutting propagation of goldfish grass.

Cuttings selection

When the goldfish grass seedling is about nine centimeters tall and has eight to ten true leaves, pick the heart. When picking the heart, leave four to six real leaves in the lower part, and take off the tender head with four real leaves in the upper part, which can be used as cuttings for reproduction.

Matrix preparation

Use two parts of sandy loam and one part of plant ash as cutting medium, mix them well and sift them with fine sieve. Rinse the nursery box or shallow pot with water, then add about 2/3 of the sifted coarse soil, spread about two centimeters of fine soil on it, and spray water properly to wet the substrate.

Cutting method

When cutting goldfish grass, a thin bamboo stick about three millimeters in diameter is used to punch holes in the substrate in advance, insert the cuttings while drilling, and gently compact the culture soil at the base of the cuttings with two fingers. The cutting density is about 2.5 by 3 cm, which is based on the fact that the leaves of cuttings touch each other without overlapping. Then spray enough water with a fine-hole spray can and move the basin to a cool place for maintenance.

Plug-in management

After the goldfish grass cutting, spray water on the basin soil and cuttings twice every morning and evening with a fine-hole spray can. The amount of water should not be too much, depending on the wetness of the basin soil. If the air humidity is too low, the number of water spraying can be increased appropriately. On cloudy days, as long as the pot soil does not turn white, it does not need to be watered, and it is very easy to take root. At a temperature of 15 to 20 degrees Celsius, it usually takes about ten days to take root. After rooting, the seedlings can be transplanted when the seedlings resume growth (about 15 to 20 days). As goldfish grass often sends out lateral buds in the growing period, it can often be cut as long as the temperature is suitable. Buds with three centimeters long and four leaves can be cut and survived. After the cuttage survived for the first time, the florescence of the tender head was close to that of the mother plant if it was cultured as a single plant.
