Epiphyllum is called "beauty under the moon" because it always opens at midnight. There is only a moment of beauty in the pan, but this moment represents eternity. The flowers are as white as jade, fragrant and elegant because of their beauty. As a result, they are loved by people all over the world. Let's take a look at the breeding methods of epiphyllum.

Sowing and propagation of epiphyllum

Epiphyllum sowing and propagation is often used in cross breeding, and it takes 4-5 years from sowing to flowering.

Grafting propagation of epiphyllum

1. Grafting time: epiphyllum has strong regeneration ability, and the grafting time can be done except in severe winter, but it is best in spring and autumn.

2. Grafting method

① selected the annual and well-growing stem nodes on an epiphyllum. The base of the stem nodes was disinfected with alcohol cotton balls, and then the cortex and thick flesh were cut into tongue shape with sterilized knives on both sides of the stem nodes.

② chose a cactus with a normal growth and a diameter of 60mm to 90mm as a receiver. The bigger the bulb, the better. It will be more beautiful after forming. Disinfect the top of the ball with alcohol and cut off several pieces of cortex. In the middle part of the skin, insert a small opening with a sterilized knife, the width and depth of the knife should be just enough to insert the scion, and then insert the stem node from the edge into the interface of the cactus.

③ inserted a cactus in the lower part of the cortex of the grafted bud to reinforce it.

3, after management: cactus is a succulent plant, more water is perishable, so it should be watered less. Epiphyllum should be placed in a cool and ventilated place after grafting to prevent Rain Water from getting wet. A week later, the bud grafting was normal, indicating that the grafting had survived and could be placed under scattered light half a month later to enter the normal management. Don't spray water on the ball before the wound heals to prevent decay. At the same time, avoid direct sunlight in the hot season.

Cuttage propagation of epiphyllum

The main results are as follows: 1. The most suitable cutting time is from May to June, and those with greenhouse conditions can be carried out all the year round, and the cuttings can grow roots after about 20-30 days.

2. Cutting method

① cuttings selection: cuttings choose two-year-old leafy branches, with strong growth and hypertrophy, too tender branches are easy to rot or atrophy after cutting, so it is not suitable to choose. Cut the cuttings from the mother branch, cut them into 10-15cm segments with a sharp knife, place them in a cool and ventilated place for half a day to a day, and wait for the cut to dry into a thin film before cutting.

② cutting soil: the cutting soil is mixed with 7 parts of garden soil and 3 parts of equal bran ash, or plain sandy soil, which should be drained smoothly and loosely, so as to facilitate rooting. The soil should be exposed to strong sunlight to prevent moss or mold from rotting.

③ cuttage basin: cuttings can be made in sand bed or in the basin, and the basin is best used in the sub-basin (tower basin). First pad the broken tiles at the bottom of the basin, then put the culture soil to the full of eight points of the basin, and the cutting depth is about 1 / 3 of the cuttings. After cutting, press the base slightly, and then put it in a cool indoor place, no longer move more.

④ post-cutting management: if placed in the greenhouse, can not make direct sunlight, so as not to make the cuttings shrink, affecting the root germination. The cuttings must be watered and the skewed branches will be righted after watering. If the high temperature causes the cuttings to wilt, a fine sprayer can be used to spray water. The soil can be slightly damp.
