Anthurium andraeanum, also known as candle, Anzu flower, red crane flower, red taro, red goose palm, etc., is a perennial evergreen herb of Araceae, native to Costa Rica, Colombia and other tropical rain forest regions. I like the environment of unobstructed drainage, high air humidity, hot shady and fertile soil. Let's take a look at the growth habits of Anthurium andraeanum.

Temperature

Anthurium andraeanum is sensitive to temperature. The suitable growth temperature is 14-35 ℃, the optimum temperature is 19-25 ℃, and the temperature difference between day and night is 3-6 ℃, that is, the best temperature is 21-25 ℃ in daytime. For a long time lower than 13 ℃, the plant will not die, but it is difficult to restore growth for a long time. When the temperature is higher than 35 ℃ and the light is sufficient, the leaves are prone to burn, because the damaged leaves will not be reversed, affecting the overall quality of Anthurium andraeanum.

Light

Anthurium andraeanum is a shade-tolerant plant, avoid direct sunlight, but do not think that Anthurium andraeanum is a shade-tolerant flower, but do not need light. It is observed that when the light increases by 1%, the flower yield will also increase by 1%, but this is within the range of suitable light intensity of Anthurium andraeanum. The more suitable range of light intensity is 10000-20000 lux, which mainly depends on different varieties and different growth periods. In any case, it is necessary to ensure that the light can not exceed 25000-30000 lux for a long time.

Humidity

The optimum air relative humidity of Anthurium andraeanum is 70%, 80%, and should not be less than 50%, because maintaining a high air humidity in the cultivation environment is the key to the success of Anthurium andraeanum cultivation.

Soil fertilizer

The potted soil of Anthurium andraeanum should be mixed with peat soil and perlite, plus a small amount of bone powder or cooked cake fertilizer powder, and the bottom of the basin should be covered with coarse sand to facilitate drainage. After a period of cultivation and management of Anthurium andraeanum, the matrix will produce biodegradation and salinization, which will reduce the pH value of the matrix and increase the EC value, thus affecting the absorption capacity of plant roots to fertilizer and water. Therefore, the pH value and EC value of the matrix must be determined regularly, and the proportion of nutrient elements should be adjusted according to the measured data in order to promote the absorption of fertilizer and water by the plant.
