Potted pomegranate not only has ornamental value, but also can taste delicious fruit, larger venues, houses, balconies and so on can be cultivated, partial flowering in the autumn of that year, and can blossom and bear fruit the next year.

Potted pomegranate

1. Seedling source: excellent pomegranate seedlings in the nursery can be used for pot cultivation. It can also be bred in small earthen pots. Cut the branches of pomegranate into about 20cm, and insert 1-2 pieces in each pot in a tile basin with nutritious soil inserted into the caliber 20cm from March to April. Watering in time after planting, keeping the basin soil moist, and after rooting, apply organic fertilizer for 2 or 3 times in summer to promote growth, cultivate strong seedlings, and become potted seedlings after autumn.

2. Pots and nutritious soil: pottery pots, pottery pots, plastic pots, etc. The caliber is generally above 30cm, and the volume of the basin is generally more than 5L. Preparation of nutritious soil: 13 leguminous crop straw compost soil + 13 garden soil + 13 sandy soil, mixed well with 1kg 25% nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer per cubic meter of nutritious soil.

3. Colonization: planting is generally carried out in the dormant period of fallen leaves, put a few broken tiles on the water seepage hole at the bottom of the basin, put part of the nutritive soil, put the pomegranate seedlings on the nutritious soil, after the root system is unfolded, add some nutritive soil, gently pat the edge of the basin, gently compact the nutritive soil, leave a few centimeters deep at the mouth of the basin, do not fill the water mouth, and pour water once after the basin is installed. After a period of time, after the basin soil sinks, add some nutritious soil.

4. Water and fertilizer management: although pomegranate is resistant to drought, it can not be drought for a long time. On a sunny day in spring and autumn, water is watered once or twice a day and twice a day in summer. In winter, some water should be irrigated in time according to the drought of the basin soil. If it rains for a long time during the growth period, you should pay attention to no stagnant water in the basin. Fertilizer is applied after sprouting, generally using organic manure made from bean cake and other cake fertilizer. After taking out the fertilizer solution and mixing it with water for more than 10 times, it is applied in the basin, usually once every 7 to 10 days, and 0.3% urea solution can be applied before flowering to promote flowering and fruit setting. During the pomegranate expansion period, 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be sprayed twice, which is beneficial to the pomegranate expansion growth.

5 Flower and fruit management:

5.1 Flower and fruit thinning: pomegranate has a large number of flowers and has been blooming since June. In addition, pomegranate bell flowers can not set fruit, only some of the bucket flowers can set fruit. Therefore, in flowering, in addition to ornamental needs, timely thinning of bell-shaped flowers and overdense buds. In addition, the first crop of pomegranate and the second crop of flowers are more fruiting, so it is necessary to keep them and let them sit on the fruit. if the barrel-shaped flowers of the third crop are not appreciated, they should be sparse in time. Fruit pomegranate, leave more first stubble fruit, choose two stubble fruit. The third stubble fruit, such as the first stubble, the second stubble flowers sit fruit less, can retain some, the rest sparse.

5.2 Flower and fruit preservation: artificial pollination at flowering stage can improve fruit setting, stick the fresh pollen on the tip of the brush and point to the newly opened bucket style head in other pots. Foliar spraying of 40~50mg/L gibberellin or 20~50mg/L naphthylacetic acid could also increase the fruit setting rate. When it rains during the flowering period, taking shelter measures can also increase the fruit setting rate. Don't water the flowers during the flowering period.

6 plastic pruning:

6.1 shaping: the shape of the potted pomegranate tree should be single stem, the height of the trunk is about 20-30cm, and there are about 5 main branches on the leading trunk, fruiting branches and fruiting branches on the main branches.

6.2 Winter pruning: pomegranate has many branches and should be sparse. A branch that is truncated, extended, or used as a group of cultured branches. The mixed buds of pomegranate are planted at or near the top of sturdy short branches, so be careful to keep them. The sparse part of the branch can be short and truncated, and generally leave 2-3 buds to produce new branches.

6.3 Summer pruning: pomegranate buds are precocious and can be branched many times in the growing period, so that the crown branches become denser during the growing period. Therefore, during the growing period, useless buds and shoots should be erased, and branches that are too dense should be thinned out. If long branches are of no use, they should be thinned out in time. Picking the heart of a long branch promotes sturdiness.

7 Prevention and control of diseases and insect pests: the common pests of potted pomegranate are aphids, diamondback moths and shell insects. Aphids rinse with 0.4% laundry powder or use natural enemies ladybugs to prey on aphids. The larvae of diamondback moth were sprayed with 3000 times enemy killing liquid or killed artificially. The tortoise wax beetle can be scraped during the dormant period or sprayed with 800 times 50% dichlorvos solution during the peak egg hatching period in summer.

8 change the basin and change the soil: the growth potential of the pomegranate that grows in the basin for a long time will gradually weaken, generally 2-3 years need to change a large basin. Pull the pomegranate belt soil out of the basin, remove the root mat and a small part of the root system, and then put the prepared nutrient soil into the new basin. The potted pomegranate that does not change a large pot should also be pulled out with soil, remove the root mat and a small part of the root system, replace it with new nutritious soil and irrigate enough water.

9 overwintering: potted fruit pomegranate overwintering should pay attention to cold prevention. If there are conditions, it can be put indoors or in a shed to survive the winter. Areas that are not too cold in winter can spend the winter in the open field, generally covering the basin soil with some broken grass to protect the root neck, check the dry and wet condition of the basin soil before the cold current comes, and water the basin soil once if it becomes dry.
