Tomatoes are delicious both raw and cooked, especially because they are rich in vitamin C and are very popular with girls. However, many of the tomatoes on the market are ripening, have no tomato flavor and are not safe. In the city, many families like to grow some small vegetables on the balcony, delicious and at ease, so let's take a look at the planting techniques of potted tomatoes.

Potted tomatoes tied with vines

1. Sowing and raising seedlings:

Sowing and raising seedlings all year round, select dwarf tomato varieties with disease resistance, strong stress resistance and easy fruit setting, such as dwarf red boll, dwarf yellow bell, potted red, colorful and so on. Before sowing, soak the seeds in 55 ℃ warm water for half an hour, then drop to normal temperature naturally. After soaking for 4-6 hours, the seeds will germinate for 2-3 days under the condition of 25-28 ℃. During the germination period, rinse with warm water once a day to wash away the mucus attached to the seeds to prevent the seeds from mildew and rot. When tomato seeds show white buds, they can be sown in a nutrition bowl with a diameter of 5cm. The matrix materials were peat, vermiculite, fine sand, cottonseed cake, slag, corn straw powder and so on. Three of them were selected and mixed at the ratio of 1 ∶ at 1:1. 2 seeds per pot, covered with fine fluvo-aquic soil 0.8cm after sowing, and covered with 1 layer of film, after emergence, remove the film. Sunshade net or grass cloak is used to cool down in summer to prevent burning seedlings and protective facilities are used to prevent frost damage in winter. Two leaves set the seedling at the same time. Border sowing can also be used to raise seedlings, and when the seedlings grow to 2 leaves and 1 heart, divide the seedlings into the bowl. Before potting, 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be properly sprayed to increase seedling nutrition and cultivate strong seedlings. Spraying Dysen zinc and chlorothalonil to control seedling diseases.

2. Planting in the basin:

When tomato seedlings have 4-5 leaves, they can be planted in a pot with 28 × 30cm flowerpots, and the planting number can also be determined according to the size of the pots. The raw materials of the matrix are peat, vermiculite, fine sand, mushroom residue, slag, corn straw powder, etc. Three of them are selected and mixed with field soil at the proportion of 1 ∶ at 1:1:3. 100g expanded chicken manure and 5 grains of ternary compound fertilizer can be mixed in each basin to ensure that the substrate can provide enough nutrition. Water thoroughly after planting.

3. Daily management:

After slow seedling, high temperature in summer, watering at least once a day, 2-3 days in spring and autumn, and 5 days in winter. Before hanging fruit, hoe pot soil frequently to increase air permeability, which is beneficial to the development of root system. After hanging the fruit, 100 grams of expanded chicken manure, 5 grains of ternary compound fertilizer and 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate were sprayed properly to provide nutrition for tomato growth. Enter the expansion period, must keep the basin soil moist, but watering should be appropriate, not too much watering, too often, in order to prevent retting roots, leaves yellowing, rotten leaves, fruit drop. Summer can be covered with sunshade net to prevent tomato sun-burning; into the mature period, avoid spraying water to prevent fruit cracking. Pay attention to cold prevention in winter to prevent frost damage.

4. Pruning:

Dwarfing tomato is a self-capping variety with very short internodes and extremely dwarf plants, which generally do not need pruning and framing. However, if the plant is too small, when the fruit is not hanging or the fruit is not inflated, knock off the buds or fruit, let the plant continue to grow, and retain 3-4 lateral branches. If the fruit is too much, it can be supported by a column welded with fine steel bar (fine steel bar is painted pure white). Can also insert a sturdy bamboo stick in the basin to make a frame, the bamboo stick should not exceed the height of the tomato, so as not to affect the beauty. In the whole growth process, the basal lateral branches should be knocked off in time, and when it is found that the basal old leaves are yellowed, they should also be knocked off in time to facilitate ventilation and light transmission and reduce nutrient consumption. Dwarf tomatoes do not do modeling treatment, but can do some simple plastic treatment according to the shape of flowerpots to enhance ornamental.

5. Indoor maintenance:

Potted tomatoes can be placed on the balcony, indoors, or on the desk. In winter, the indoor temperature is high and the temperature difference between day and night is small, which is not conducive to the growth of tomatoes. The temperature should be relatively low at night, so that the temperature difference between day and night is 5-10 degrees. General indoor air is dry, often spray water to the leaf surface, spray 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate or 100 times rice vinegar once a week, which can not only prevent insects and diseases, but also play the role of foliar topdressing. Potted tomatoes on the desk should be exposed to the sun every 2-3 days, which is conducive to plant growth. After the tomato is ripe, pick and eat it in time to prevent the fruit from overripening and cracking.
