Adiantum is a perennial herb belonging to Adiantum of Adiantum family. It is often born on limestone beside running water stream or limestone cave bottom and dripping rock wall. It is suitable for indoor perennial potted viewing. Small potted plants can be placed on desks and tea tables. Larger potted plants can be used to decorate windowsills, aisles or living rooms in shady rooms. The breeding methods mainly include subplant propagation and spore propagation. Let's take a look at it together!

Culture Conditions of Adiantum

Adiantum like loose permeable, fertile calcareous sandy loam soil, potting soil can be mixed with loam, moldy soil and river sand equal amount, suitable temperature for growth 21-25℃ in the day, 12-15 ℃ at night, the temperature above 5℃ leaves can still maintain fresh green, but below 5℃ leaves will appear frozen damage, like bright scattered light, afraid of direct sunlight.

RAPID PROPAGATION OF Adiantum

Adiantum can be propagated indoors all the year round, but it is generally carried out in early spring combined with changing pots. The mother plants are taken out from the pots, the rhizomes are cut off, so that each plant has part of rhizomes and leaves, and then they are planted in small pots respectively. The rhizomes are covered with mixed soil, and after irrigation, they are cultured in a damp environment to obtain new plants.

SPORE PROPAGATION OF Adiantum

Adiantum can also be propagated by spores, peat and fine sand as substrates are placed in an oven for high temperature disinfection to kill germs and weed seeds, then the disinfected soil is placed in a shallow sowing basin, leaves with mature spores are cut, spores are collected and evenly spread in the shallow sowing basin without covering soil, glass sheets are covered on the top, water is soaked from the bottom of the basin, the soil in the basin is kept moist, and the soil is placed in a semi-shade environment of 20-25 DEG C, spores can germinate into prothallus in about one month, When the pot is full, it can be planted separately.
