Due to the buoyant demand in the semiconductor market, coupled with the continued improvement of wafer foundry processes and increased capital expenditure, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said that imports of semiconductor production equipment last year reached US $13.44 billion, the second highest in history and an annual increase of 14.6 per cent.

It was observed that in the first 10 months of 102, the output value of semiconductor testing equipment and parts, semiconductor production equipment and parts was NT $11.3 billion and NT $9.2 billion respectively, with an annual growth rate of 31.8% and 16.8%, respectively.

On the other hand, the increased demand for mobile communication devices and consumer electronics has led to the hot reception of orders in the domestic semiconductor industry. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the overall output value of the semiconductor manufacturing industry reached 1 trillion 141.3 billion yuan in October 102, an annual increase of 11%.

Among them, the output value of integrated circuit manufacturing industry is 743.8 billion yuan, with an annual growth rate of 16%.

According to the customs export trade statistics of the Ministry of Finance, the export value of Taiwan's integrated circuits in 102 was US $56.17 billion, a record high, with an annual increase of 6.2%. It was mainly sold to Hong Kong, Chinese mainland, Singapore, South Korea, Japan and other countries, with exports to Hong Kong accounting for 30.5%. Chinese mainland took the second place, and Singapore ranked third with 19%.

Further observing the changes in the proportion of integrated circuit exports in the past five years, the Ministry of Economic Affairs analyzed that the proportion of exports to Singapore increased year by year from 1998 to 101, but accounted for 19% in 102 years, slightly lower than 20.7% in 101 years.

With regard to the export of Japanese integrated circuits, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said that the proportion of exports has declined year by year in the past five years, reaching 13.2% in 1998, but only 6.2% in 102 years. Officials speculate that it may be related to the poor performance of Japan's semiconductor industry in recent years, which in turn affects demand.
