Eggplant stiff fruit
Symptoms: eggplant fruit, also known as "stone eggplant", often occurs in the early and late stages of winter and spring cultivation and the late stage of open field cultivation. The shape of the fruit is small but not correct, the color is light, the fruit is hard, the flesh is black, cannot be eaten, and has no commercial value.
Etiology: eggplant after flowering, can not be fertilized normally, parthenocarpy will develop into a stiff fruit. In the early stage of eggplant cultivated in winter and spring in solar greenhouse, because the temperature is often lower than 17 ℃, pollen germination and elongation are poor, which can not complete fertilization, resulting in parthenocarpy and easy to produce stiff fruit. In the later stage of production, the greenhouse ventilation is not timely or not enough, and when the indoor temperature is often more than 35 ℃, the number of short-column flowers increases, which is also the reason for falling flowers and stiff fruits.
In order to improve the early fruit setting rate of eggplant cultivated in greenhouse, hormone treatment is often used, although the number of fruit setting increases, but if the nutrients provided by assimilation can not meet the needs of the growth and development of a large number of eggplant, eggplant will form stiff fruit.
When the climate is dry, too much fertilizer, too high fertilizer concentration and insufficient water supply, plant assimilation is reduced, nutrition is insufficient, and stiff fruits are easy to appear. Lack of light, picking leaves too early, too much, and the temperature is too low or too high are also the causes of stiff fruit.
Four methods for prevention and control of eggplant fruit:
① environmental regulation: the temperature should be controlled during the whole growth period of eggplant to avoid the temperature being too low in the early stage and too high in the later stage. It is generally controlled below 30 ℃ in daytime, no more than 35 ℃ in daytime, 15-16 ℃ in nighttime, and not less than 14 ℃ at night. During the day, pay attention to improve the light intensity, and timely ventilation.
② water and fertilizer management: eggplant fruit period should be timely, appropriate watering, not excessive water control. Irrigation should be uniform and thoroughly, and timely ventilation and moisture drainage should be carried out after watering. Eggplant in open field should pay attention to drainage after rain. Adopt the technology of formula fertilization, apply fully mature organic fertilizer, pay attention to the reasonable combination of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and there can be no lack of calcium. When a small amount of stiff fruit is found, foliar fertilizers such as Baoduoshou, Yemanbao and potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be sprayed to promote plant growth and reduce stiff fruit.
③ picking leaves: in the middle and later stages of eggplant growth, the lower old leaves should be removed properly, but not too much.
④ foliar fertilizer spraying: timely spraying plant growth regulators or foliar fertilizers such as Yemanbao, Peshibao, paclobutrazol, etc. However, in order to grasp the use time, the concentration can not be increased at will, let alone continuous application in a short period of time.
